About this event
Join SoCal Grand Prix Racing Association for a full three-day grassroots Grand Prix-style racing weekend at Apex Motorsports Park.
BASIC SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
Friday will be an open/public Apex practice day with SGPRA on site running official live timing.
Saturday will focus on official practice and official qualifying, giving racers time to establish pace and set the grids.
Sunday will begin with a short free practice session before moving into Sprint races, Grand Prix Main Event races, and the final Champion Race at the end of the day.
Saturday and Sunday will feature private SGPRA event operations from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Apex open/public night practice sessions available afterward from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the standard Apex practice session cost.
RACE EVENT STRUCTURE:
SGPRA uses a lap-time-based running group system designed to create safer sessions, cleaner racing, and more competitive grids. Rather than sorting riders only by bike type, license status, or self-selected amateur/expert categories, riders are placed into running groups based on actual lap times recorded during event practice and qualifying.
Each bike family, including BiycleMoto, MiniMoto, and Supermoto groupings, will run within its own structure and separately on track. The fastest lap-time group in each family will be the GP group, followed by additional Moto groups as needed, such as Moto 2, Moto 3, and beyond. Practice and qualifying times will establish and refine these groups as the event develops.
This format is designed to reduce large closing-speed differences, limit avoidable lap-traffic situations, and give every racer a meaningful on-track battle with riders running similar pace. Final group placement and race structure will be determined by race direction using official timing data, event flow, safety, and competitive balance.
Riders will still register by bike class and remain eligible for applicable class awards. Official qualifying will also include SGPRA Pole Position Awards for designated bike classes, recognizing the fastest qualifying performances of the weekend.
Riders may register for more than one bike class, but if multiple registered bikes qualify into the same on-track running group, the rider must choose one bike to race in that group; duplicate entries in the same running group cannot be raced by the same rider and are not eligible for refund or credit. This would only effect riders registering for more than one bike class within a bike family: BicycleMoto, MiniMoto, and Supermoto.
MiniMoto Riders: If you do not see a bike class that matches your machine please select SoCal MiniMoto. ALL machines that fit within the "MiniMoto" family are welcome.
Supermoto Riders: If you do not see a bike class that matches your machine please select SoCal Supermoto. ALL machines that fit within the "Supermoto" family are welcome.
SGPRA events are built for fast, fun, organized grassroots competition across a wide range of small-bike and lightweight racing platforms, including minimoto, supermini, supermoto, motorized bicycle, pit bike, Ohvale GP-style machines, and other compatible classes. Come race, practice, spectate, and be part of the next chapter of Southern California grassroots racing.
