About this event
RMVR’s first HPR race of the season has been renamed the High Plains May Classic. Once again, we’ll blend RMVR’s renowned Competition Drivers’ School into the weekend schedule. Fear not folks, as there’ll be plenty of track time for all. This event is free to spectators! We would appreciate your help spreading the word on social media and with your friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors.
Please plan to join friends and fellow competitors on track and in the paddock for a weekend of fun and racing. This is also an opportunity to welcome our newest racers into the fold and demonstrate what the vintage spirit is all about.
The RMVR Competition Drivers’ School takes place Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17. Vintage racing, as usual, happens on Saturday and Sunday May 16-17. Qualified students will join their respective race groups on Sunday. A Happy Hour and dinner are planned for Saturday after the track goes cold.

Bonus Open Lapping and Test and Tune! HPR will host an RMVR-only open lapping day on Friday, May 15 open to all RMVR members, and there is no restriction to the car used (i.e. it doesn't need to have a logbook) so long as the driver and car meet the track's requirements. It's a great opportunity to shake down & de-bug both car and driver prior to the weekend's racing and for other RMVR members to get out on the track. This option is highly recommended and strongly encouraged for those of us who haven’t been on track since last Fall. Four of these sixteen 30-minute sessions will be for the Competition students, but there’ll still be plenty of track time for all. For pricing and to register for Friday lapping at HPR, visit their website here. For this event only, RMVR open-lappers will get a discount over the standard open lapping registration.
