2020 WSCC Ice Race Event 4&5 - Gimli Double Header

Come out and join the Winnipeg Sports Car Club 2020 FIRE ON ICE race season!

 

This event is two days of Ice Racing, one entry fee. NOTE: SATURDAY is Event 4, SUNDAY is Event 5.  Points awarded both days. Schedule below.

Track Location: Gimli Harbour, on Lake Winnipeg, adjacent to Lakeview Resort at Centre St. Track access via 1st Ave, one block North of Lakeview Resort.

PARADE LAP. **All cars line up, immediately after last rubber race. We wave to spectators as thank you and let them know racing has ended.

16:00 - Finish (approx., can run later if needed) We thank volunteers.
16:15-17:00 - Track is open to race cars and race drivers. Ride along permitted following our normal rules.

Sunday Schedule: RACE DAY 5
Sunday is 4+4 Race Day (4 x studded races, 4 x RTI Races) then Studded Enduro, plus Ride-a-longs (Mandatory).

Studded cars should be ready to go for 10:00am sharp; make sure your tin cans are already warmed up, suited up, tuned up, oiled up, belted up, fueled up, pressured up, tired up, axel'd up and wrenched up. You should only need to grab your helmet and go racing on time. No practice so race starts immediately.
* Note for T&S: Starting order is championship points total, like normal race day, not finishing order of last race on Saturday.  Grid will require starting order.
** For T&S - We'll need a weekend total of 1st, 2nd, 3rd for Michael Lazer, Lakeview Resort Trophies, please.

11:00 - LUNCH, Lakeview Resort in Lounge Workers and Drivers are welcome for lunch on WSCC.

13:40 – DRIVERS MEETING.  (Studded Enduro).  
Everyone be at this meeting. Meeting will be run by Jen B and Bob W.  Starting grid for Enduro is a random draw from car numbers.  Studded guys help out RTI drivers with spare tires if you can, let's have everyone who wants to, participate.    
Some points for the race and driver's meeting:
* The entire session shall be 30 minutes
* Split 2 x 15 minute sessions with a 10 minute break between.
* You can change drivers during the break with another properly licensed racer.
* Time does stop during full course caution or red flag. Lap counting does not stop for full course caution.
* Race timing will not stop if you stuff it and need a tow, lap counting will not stop, you will re-join at the back a lap down.
* The initial start will be two rows, all other restarts shall be single file.
* Remember Black flag means get off race line, slow down and pull in to the pits in the Staging lane.  Red Flag means you stop racing, pull off the race line slow down and stop safely on the track. Wait for corner marshel direction via flagging station.

14:00 STUDDED ENDURO RACE

PARADE LAP. **All cars line up, immediately after last rubber race. We wave to spectators as thank you and let them know racing has ended.

14:50 - DRIVERS MEETING.  (All drivers, discuss Ride-Alongs and Workers Appreciation).
1) All workers come in and leave their stations
2) Michael Lazer should be here now for Trophies, prior to ride-along. FYI trophies will be: RTI - top points for the Gimli weekend, Studded it will be the top three of the Studded Enduro.
3) Ride-Alongs and Workers Appreciation. This is mandatory for all drivers; if your car is broken then you will go to grid or flag a corner during this session so dress warm. Grid, help passengers up with helmets and belts..  Drivers line up so this runs smoothly.
4) For Driver's: Grid in two rows, RTI on the left, Studs in the Right.  Do three or four hot laps at 80% with your rider then pull back into the grid line waiting for the next rider. Remember to remind your passenger to fold their arms and not grab on to the roll cage.
5) Remember this is ride-alongs and not racing. Watch for slower cars that may move off the race line.  Pay attention to your mirrors, stay away from Pit Entrance or Pit Exit, use hand motions if coming in the pits, you don't need to drive at 100%.
