Santa Cruz / South Bay Wine Tour
Join the club for a fantastic Wine Tour throughout the Santa Cruz Mountains. We'll visit 2-3 wineries, spend time at the Canepa Automobile Museum, and enjoy a great lunch with grilled skirt steak. This is a wine tour that you won't want to miss.
A common thread to our summer wine tours and Santa Cruz Mountains get together has been the opportunity to revel in the sights and stories associated with the collection of spectacular vehicles and restoration facilities at Bruce Canepa’s emporium in Scotts Valley: Canepa Design. By asking early, we have the very good fortune of a third tour. Because this SCMWA Passport Wine Tour weekend is a popular date for many, we will be sharing our tour of Canepa’s with fellow enthusiasts from both the Porsche and Ferrari car clubs. So that means a BONUS show-n-shine in the Canepa Design parking lot !!! Personally, I am very curious to see the progress on the #001 Duesenberg from Hawaii – barely more than a basket case last year, prepped for a full restoration.
Once again, the event falls on the day of the Summer Passport celebration in the Santa Cruz mountains. Your registration fee gets you access to the Canepa tour, organized lunch, a gift from the winery, and club memorabilia. You will need to purchase a passport for the event so go to Santa Cruz Mountain Winery Association or use your passport from last year. Remember that the passport never expires, so you can visit each and every winery, on that day, or over time, and continue to enjoy free tastings until you've visited each winery once.
After the tour at Canepa, we'll visit up to 3 wineries. The schedule is still being worked out, but the list of candidates for this wine tour is as follows.
Meeting time and place
We will start the day - 8:22AM - by assembling at Audi Stevens Creek in San Jose. www.audistevenscreek.com . From there, at approximately 9:00 AM, we will make our way to Canepa Design in Scotts Valley, CA, where the Canepa Design tour will start promptly at 10:30AM. We must be assembled at Canepa design by 10:00 AM. Lunch at Byington will be ready at 1 PM. Photos at Black Ridge - around 4PM.
