2011 BMW CCA Oktoberfest Instructor Registration
Barber Motorsports ParkAbout this event
Welcome to the 2011 BMW CCA Oktoberfest Registration Site for Driving School Instructors.
This site is only for driving school instructors. Registration for Oktoberfest events as well as Students, Autocrossers and Car Control Clinic participants must be done via the Oktoberfest website.
If you have any questions for the Chief Instructor, please e-mail Jack Joyner.
If you have any questions concerning instructor registration for the event, please email Carol Lowery.
There will be five days of high performance driving schools at Barber Motorsports Park Oktoberfest. Student slots for the event will be sold as follows:
- Wednesday, October 12th: One day driving school.
- Thursday, October 13th: One day driving school.
- Friday, October 14th: One day driving school.
- Weekend, October 15th and 16th: Two day driving school.
Instructors can register anywhere from one to five days. The weekend is a two day package, so we'd like instructors to be available both Saturday and Sunday. We will offer instructors the option to register only for Saturday but there will be a limited number of these registration allowed.
It is very likely that you will have 2 students per day. We will do our best to insure one of your students can be signed off to go solo after one or two sessions. We expect a large number of advanced students that have significant experience at Barber Motorsports Park .
There is no charge for instructing. If you want to attend other parts of Oktoberfest you must register and pay through the Oktoberfest website.

Event requirements
Instructor Experience:
This registration is for instructors only. If you have not previously instructed with the Heart of Dixie Chapter, your registration will be put on hold until we have completed checking your references and credentials.
Barber Motorsports Park:
If you have not driven at Barber Motorsports Park before we want you to arrive the day before your first instructor duties are scheduled so that you can get a ride with an experienced instructor. The only day this presents a problem is Wednesday, so we plan to make the first instructor session longer to allow time for new instructors to get a ride and still have time to drive a few laps before having to go out with a student. Barber Motorsports Park is not a hard track to learn but it is very fast so you'll need a few laps to get used to the speed. There are lots of videos on YouTube you can use to get a look at the track.
Age Requirement:
All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Helmets:
Helmets must be Snell 2005 or later. Either SA or M specification ratings are acceptable.
Driver/Passenger Restraints:
Cars must have equal restraints for both driver and passenger.
Open Top Cars:
Convertibles with a 4 point roll hoop and approved log book will be permitted. All convertibles must run with the top on or in the up position and must have race seats for both driver and passenger. Minimum 5 point restraint systems, installed to the manufacturers' specifications must be available for use by both the driver and passenger. Any questions concerning vehicles should be submitted to the Chief Instructor before registration.
All occupants of open top cars must wear arm restraints. * Be sure to bring an extra set if you want to give your student(s) a ride.
To be approved for the event all open top cars must have a log book from a recognized race series (e.g. BMW CCA, SCCA, NASA, PCA, etc.). You must bring the log book with you to event and have it available for inspection by the event organizers.
Before registering for the event call Jack Joyner (205-369-4165) to obtain approval for your open top car. Open top cars will only be approved for the instructor and advanced groups. Open top cars at the event without prior approval and those found to be non-compliant can and will be excluded.
* If your open top car has a removable hardtop and you plan to drive with the top in place then arm restraints are not required.
SAVs and SUVs:
No X6s, X5s, X3s or Porsche Cayennes (or any other type of SAV/SUV) will be allowed in the driving school.
Track Damage:
You will be held personally responsible for any damage to the track that may results from an incident involving you and your car. For example, if you spill oil on the track or damage a tire wall or concrete barrier Barber Motorsorts Park will bill BMW CCA for these damages. We will in turn ask you to reimburse BMW CCA for these costs.

There's general driving school information and specific Barber Motorsports Park information available on the Oktoberfest website.
