SF JAZZ Presents Max Raabe and the Palast Orchester at Davies Symphony Hall
By Chris Barker, Event Organizer
Max Raabe and the Palast Ochester (not a typo!) will be performing in an SFJAZZ concert at Davies Symphony Hall in April. This will be a fun evening with some musical comedy.
As many club members may know, I’m a member of SFJAZZ. I’ve seen Max and his 10+ member orchestra perform at SFJAZZ several times. As one reviewer wrote: “ Raabe possesses a supremely flexible voice, full and resonant in lower registers and pure and clear in his falsetto range”. Check out Max Raabe here.
* We have on hold – a block of 16 seats in the Loge area of Davies Symphony hall for Club members, to order through motosport.reg. A seating map of Davies with the seats marked attached.
* The discounted per-Ticket price is $99.00 and is non-refundable.
* Tickets available until February 7.
And who is Max? Max’s broad comedic repertoire includes songs from the 30’s and 40’s, many from Germany and the U.S. Max has a unique comedic style, and sings in English or German. Songs range from “Mein kleiner gruener Kaktus” to “Singing in the Rain” , “Mambo No. 5”, “Dream a Little Dream” to “Lady Marmelade” even the more recent “Tainted Love”! Listen to a youtube playlist for a sampler of his music.
And the first time I heard Max at the Paramout, the Art Deco Society of San Francisco attended, dressed to the nines in Deco clothes. I hear they may be attending the concert at Davies.
