2010 BMW CCA Oktoberfest Instructor Registration
Event Requirements
| Registration Suspended | The official close date is August 12 and registration may re-open before that date. |
Instructor Experience:
This registration is for instructors only. If you have not previously instructed with the Badger chapter, your registration will be put on hold until we have completed checking your references and credentials.
Road America Experience:
If you have not driven at Road America before we want you to arrive the day before your first instructor duties are scheduled so that you can get a ride with an experienced instructor. The only day this presents a problem is Wednesday, so we plan to make the first instructor session longer to allow time for new instructors to get a ride and still have time to drive a few laps before having to go out with a student. Road America is not a hard track to learn but it is very fast so you'll need a few laps to get used to the speed. There are lots of videos on YouTube you can use to get a look at the track. Road America is also featured in a number of video games such as Forza 3 and Need for Speed Shift. Both of these games give you a good introduction to the track layout. We have also placed a write up on driving at Road America and a map of the track on our website.
Age Requirement:
All participants must be 18 years of age or older.
Helmets:
Helmets must be Snell 2000 or later. Either SA or M specification ratings are acceptable.
Driver/Passenger Restraints:
Cars must have equal restraints for both driver and passenger.
Open Top Cars:
The only open top cars allowed in the event are those with full roll cages (no cars with just roll bars) and race seats for both driver and passenger. Minimum 5 point restraint systems, installed to the manufacturer¹s specifications, must be available for use by both the driver and passenger.
All occupants of open top cars must wear arm restraints. * Be sure to bring an extra set if you want to give your student(s) a ride.
To be approved for the event all open top cars must have a log book from a recognized race series (e.g. BMW CCA, SCCA, NASA, PCA, etc.). You must bring the log book with you to event and have it available for inspection by the event organizers.
Before registering for the event call Mike Clemens (262-242-4173) to obtain approval for your open top car. Open top cars will only be approved for the instructor and advanced groups. Open top cars at the event without prior approval and those found to be non-compliant can and will be excluded.
* If your open top car has a removable hardtop and you plan to drive with the top in place then arm restraints are not required.
SAVs and SUVs:
No X6s, X5s, X3s or Porsche Cayennes (or any other type of SAV/SUV) will be allowed in the driving school.
Track Damage:
You will be held personally responsible for any damage to the track that may results from an incident involving you and your car. For example, if you spill oil on the track or damage a tire wall or concrete barrier Road America will bill BMW CCA for these damages. We will in turn ask you to reimburse BMW CCA for these costs.
More Information:
There's general driving school information and specific Road America information available on the Oktoberfest website.
