The NARRC Championship Series (North Atlantic Road Racing Championship) is one of the longest continually running regional racing series in the country, the brainchild of past Regional Executives Henryk Szamota and is a showcase of the Northeast's divisional racing talent. 27 different racing classes of automobiles all vying for a championship and bragging rights for a year...and it all comes down to a sprint race at one of the most challenging tracks in the northeast...as well as one of the most beautiful.

REGISTRTION AND FEES

Registration is available on line at www.MotorsportReg.com.  Paper entries will be accepted using the form found on the MotorsportsReg link and mailed to the Chief Registrar.  Credit cards WILL NOT be accepted for this event after September 18 and are only accepted online through motorsportreg.com.  Checks or money orders should be mailed to Gina Tierney, Chief Registrar, PO Box 754, Millerton, NY 12546.  Cash and checks ONLY will be accepted at registration at the track.

 

The entry fee for the event is $385.  A $50 late fee may be charged for entries and fees not received by September 18.  An additional $10 compliance fee must be included with the registration fee for all SRF and FE cars.  A $260 fee is required for entry into a second race group (same driver & same car) and the fee for entering in a third race group (same driver & same car) is $250. A $50 fee will be charged for all checks returned unpaid from the bank.

 

 

NARRC CLASSES

All NARRC classes will be recognized.  Rules for NARRC Classes may be obtained from the NARRC web site at http://www.narrc.com/rules.html.  SM, SM5, SSM and SM2 cars must use the NEDIV approved Toyo tires, RA1 or R888 of proper size. SSM and SM2 rules are available from the NARRC website.  SM5 (Spec MX-5) rules are as stated in the GCR.  Note: All Rules and Specifications that are referenced to a website, or other means, in these Supplementary Regulations shall be those Rules and Specifications in effect at the time entries are accepted.

 

Course Configuration – This event shall be run on the classic 1.53 mile course.  Starts – SCCA standard rolling starts will be used for all races.  Cars must maintain pace car speed during the pace lap and for any subsequently required pace laps with or without the pace car.  Cars that do not maintain pace car speed may be black flagged.        

 

Track Time – This event is planned to afford the maximum of track time to all drivers.  Race length is specified as 30 laps or 35 minutes, whichever comes first and qualifying sessions are scheduled for 15 and 20 minutes for morning and afternoon sessions.  Strict adherence to The Rules of the Road, especially GCR Paragraph 6.11.1 will help maximize track time.

 

Sound – Sound limit is 103 DB, and will be measured per GCR 5.7.3. Readings will be posted at the base of the tower.

Notification to cars exceeding the sound limit will be as follows for all track sessions; qualifying and race.  Race Officials will do all they can to provide over-the-sound-limit cars with 3 readings but is not guaranteed.   If you see a furled black with the sound board and/or your number, it might be your 2nd violation if you missed the first one.  Cars that visit the pits and/or remedy the problem before the 3rd violation will not be penalized

PENALTIES

         Black flag (not furled) for sound during qualifying – Loss of all qualifying times for that session.

A sound meter is used to enforce the SCCA sound limit of 103dB and each competitor is responsible for his/her car to be in compliance with the sound specification.

 

Timing & Scoring, Results - will be per GCR 5.10.4.  All qualifying sessions will be timed. Results will be posted at the base of the tower.

 

Track Rules - The Chief Steward has the authority and the responsibility for enforcing all rules contained in the GCR, the event Supplementary Regulations, and the Track Specific Rules.

 

EVENT RULES

 

Accepted Licenses:  The acceptable licenses for this event are described in GCR paragraph 3.1.5. and holders of valid SCCA Novice permits with the school requirements completed per GCR App C.2.7. D-F, The holders of non-SCCA licenses must be SCCA members and those licenses and SCCA Novice permits must be surrendered at registration. They will be returned by the Chief Steward or designee following completion of the event.  Access to the GCR for rules is available at

Withdrawal of Entry – A written request for withdrawing an entry and receiving a refund in the event that a car cannot compete (car never sets a tire on the track) may be made at registration.  A request for refund - driver cancellations or withdrawal of entry - must be made in writing and postmarked no later than five days after the event.  Refunds less $50 will be handled by check within 21 days after the event.

Cancellation of event - The event organizers reserve the right to cancel/postpone this event should circumstances beyond their control develop.  When possible, all entrants will receive advance notice of such action with advice on refund arrangements.

Changes to event - The Chief Steward, with the approval of the SOM, may alter the event schedule, Race Group Class makeup, race length and time and qualifying session time, in the interest of complying with the Lime Rock facility shut down time and in the interest of safety.  Changes, if necessary, will be posted at registration and/or at the base of the timing tower and announced over the PA system.

 

Credentials - All event participants must register during scheduled hours and sign a release. Credentials will be issued at Registration.  Lost credentials cannot be replaced.  All participants must display their credentials at all times. Vehicle passes are available at the discretion of the Registrar.   

 

Crew - The entry fee paid to New York Region permits access to the track for one driver plus four crew. Only the driver or crew chief can add or change names on the crew list.  Drivers are responsible for the actions of their crew.

 

Minors - Minors under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to sign a minor waiver or must present a notarized minor waiver or have a current SCCA Annual Minor Waiver. Note that no one under 16 years of age is allowed in the hot pits or on the Make Up Grid.   This form must be printed in color, signed by parent(s) or legal guardian(s) and witnessed by a SCCA Registrar, or notarized.  Children under 18 must be accompanied by and adult while in the paddock.  Children must be kept under adult supervision at all times.  A minor waiver may be obtained from the SCCA web site at http://www.scca.com/documents/insurance/SCCAminorwaiver.pdf

 

Car Numbers:  Car numbers will be given on a first-come basis with preferred NARRC numbers given priority.  Preferred numbers will be released at the close of regular entry deadline.  If a conflict occurs, the Chief Registrar will resolve the issue.  Vehicles with illegible car numbers/class markings may be penalized if not corrected upon request of race officials. All non-SCCA sanctioning body logos or lettering including class designations must be removed from the car or completely covered.

 

Tech Inspection & Impound- All cars must have passed annual inspection.  Drivers of vehicles that have passed 2011 Annual inspection and who have helmets with valid 2011 inspection stickers, only need to present the vehicle logbook, the helmet and the tech sheet at the Tech Inspection area. Scales will be available after Noon on Friday and from 9:05 until the first race on Saturday.  The first 3 cars in each class will report to Impound per the GCR 5.9.3.C.  Additional impound of cars may occur at the end of a qualifying session.

 

Scales: The scales will be available at Tech as listed in the schedule.  At other times they may be available by contacting the Chief Scrutineer.  The driver must bring at least one crew person to help push the car onto the scales. 

 

Transponders -– All cars must be equipped with an AMB Tranx260 transponder sufficiently powered to be read by the AMB system..  It is the competitor’s responsibility to provide the correct transponder number to registration. Non-official timing lights/beacons may not be within 30’ ft of the start finish line.  Transponder rental is NOT available at the track.

 

Oversubscribed groups – every effort will be made to allow entrants a chance to race.  It is possible that classes in oversubscribed groups may be moved to an earlier or later race group to afford equalization of the available grid space based on similar car/class potential and safety.  Changes, if necessary, will be posted at registration and/or at the base of the timing tower and announced over the PA system.   Your cooperation is required when duplicate numbers occur due to movement of your class to another race group.     For a single class group that is oversubscribed qualification and gridding will be done per GCR 6.4.3 and 6.4.2.

 

Paddock - Speed limit for all vehicles is 5 MPH and all traffic directional signs must be obeyed.  Traffic in the A Paddock is one way as posted.  Traffic in the Sunoco Paddock is two-way.  Any person operating any vehicle must operate that vehicle in a safe manner.  Violations will be subject to action by the Chief Steward. To facilitate emergency access there will be no parking of vehicles on the paved roads of the paddock.  Operation of race engines:  Race/unmuffled engines may be idled for the purpose of warm-up prior to 10 am Friday and 9:00am Saturday.  Cars may be driven at idle speed to the False Grid prior to 10:00 am Friday and 9:00 am Saturday. The “revving” of engines prior to 10:00 am Friday and 9:00am Saturday and after 6:00 pm any day is forbidden and violators may be subject to immediate removal form the event. 

 

Pits & Grid:  Pits and grid area is restricted to SCCA members with appropriate credentials only.  SMOKING IS PROHIBITED.  Trackside signaling may be done only after all cars have taken the Green Flag.  (This includes restarts.)  No vehicles other than racecars and safety vehicles can be temporarily parked in the pit lane during an on track session.  No refueling in the pit area is allowed for this event. Proper attire is required to be in the pits and grid areas; long pants, closed-toe shoes and shirts with sleeves must be worn. Maximum speed in the Pits is 45 mph beginning at Pit Entrance and continuing to the Pit Exit.

 

Track Lights - A yellow strobe light is installed on Drivers Left approaching the uphill. It will only be used to indicate a waving yellow flag at Flag Station at top of the uphill. This also indicates the start of the NO Passing Zone.  

 

Race Clock: At the Chief Steward’s discretion the race clock may continue to run during a Red or Black flag condition.

 

Drivers’ Meeting – A Drivers’ meeting will take place during the lunch

 

Vehicle Damage - All cars that sustain structural damage must be taken to impound for inspection. The driver of that car must report to Race Medical.  Injuries - To be eligible to receive medical benefits from our insurer, any participant who sustains an injury (no matter how small) must go to Race Medical and have a green card completed.

 

Black Flag:  will be displayed at Start Finish and Station 7.  Black flagged cars must proceed immediately to Pit Center. 

 

Last Lap Signal - Whenever possible, the last lap in a race will be shown by the Starter displaying to the field a sign with a number one.  This display, or lack thereof cannot be protested.  It is for informational only.

 

Checkered Flag - A checkered flag may be displayed at additional stations to end a practice or qualifying session.

 

Victory Laps - May be allowed if time permits. No more than 2 crewmembers may accompany a driver on a victory lap and they must be inside the passenger compartment.

 

Trophies – Will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cars when 4 or more are entered in a class.  Only 1st and 2nd will be awarded for an entry of 3 cars and 1st place will be awarded for a 1 or 2 car class entry.

Access to Site – no vehicles, equipment, trucks or trailers may be brought into or left in the facility prior to the start of the event.

 

Paddock surface: Competitors with paddock spaces on asphalt must ensure that they do not damage the asphalt in their paddock area. Plywood may be available onsite for use during the event.  Competitors will be responsible for repair of holes and depressions made by their equipment in the asphalt of the paddock and on roadways.   

 

Paddock transportation:  The operator of any vehicle, whether registered for road use or not, must hold a valid operator’s permit and insurance covering that vehicle.  Recreational transportation such as scooters and skating systems will not be allowed at Lime Rock.  Credentialed participants age 18 and older, may ride bicycles in paddock areas. Bicycles are allowed in the camping area. Lime Rock Park reserves the right to impound any bicycles if they are being ridden in an unsafe manner (as judged by Lime Rock Park personnel).

No sitting or riding on the exterior of moving vehicles.

 

Paddock Parking: To facilitate emergency vehicle access, race and personal vehicles must not be parked on any paddock

roadway or safety access lane during the event. Any vehicle not in compliance will be towed at violator’s expense.

 

Paddock Speed: Traffic in A Paddock is directional one way and limited to 5 MPH. Traffic in Sunoco Paddock is two-way and is limited to 5 MPH.

 

Waste disposal:  Fluid wastes must be placed in approved Lime Rock Park disposal containers located at various sites in the paddocks.  The competitor must remove all broken vehicle parts, batteries and used tires from the property.  Failure to do so may result in substantial fines or penalties.

 

Fires:  Open fires are not permitted anywhere on the Lime Rock Park grounds except in the approved camping areas and must be in containers designed for that purpose.  Small home grills, hibachis and small gas grills are permitted in the paddocks if operated at a safe distance from any flammable sources.  Lime Rock reserves the right to determine what a safe distance from flammable sources is and what is an acceptable grill or hibachi. 

 

Alcoholic beverages: Alcoholic beverages are permitted in the paddocks fifteen minutes after on-track activity has completed for the day and until 10:00 pm. 

 

Quiet Time:  10pm – 7am

 

Water/Air/Gas: Water and air are available on-site.  Fuel is available in the Sunoco Paddock.

 

Electricity: Participants and/or guests desiring an electrical hookup must not have cords cross or impede any roadway or access area where vehicles or pedestrians cross, unless cords are covered with town and state approved safety cover (e.g. “yellow jacket”, “speed bump”).

 

Prohibited:  Weapons, fireworks, and persons under 18 in the pits or on corner stations and - would you believe - due to Connecticut law and DEP regulations no car washing is permitted anywhere at Lime Rock.
