James Dean Tour

September 8th and 9th
Almost 57 years ago, on a bright September day, James Dean and his Spyder died on one of our back roads near Paso Robles. We are leading a tour to visit the simple memorial near the junction where the accident happened.
We will drive down Highway 25, one of the best back roads at the central valley. Then, lunch at Harris Ranch Inn on Highway 5. After lunch, we will visit the James Dean Memorial Junction of CA 41 and 46. The tour will end with a wine and cheese gathering at the hotel in Cambria.
Room rate for king without fireplace is $128.76 and king with fireplace or two queens are about $155.50 at San Simeon Pines.
Tour Cost: $15 per person, which will provide for refreshments and a snack at the hotel.
(Note –Lodging, lunch and dinner will be paid directly by participants.)
Please register and pay the $15 on MotorsportReg. The booking confirmation number will be provided with your MotorsportsReg receipt so you may make your hotel reservation.

Our route will cover some of the best Porsche roads in California: Hwy. 25 on the east side of the Pinnacle National Monument near Hollister… one of the “roads less traveled”. About 200 mi.
We will have lunch at Harris Ranch Inn Drive to Cholame, CA to visit the James Dean Memorial 65 mi.
Head towards the coast to our hotel, the San Simeon Pines in Cambria Dinner will be (on your own) in nearby Cambria. 55 mi.
Total Distance on Day One About 320 mi.
Sunday is flexible.
Options include leaving San Simeon for a drive up the Coast Highway, arriving in Carmel Highlands for lunch … or you may choose to stay a little longer in San Simeon and take a tour of Hearst Castle. (Tickets may be purchased at the Visitor Center upon arrival, but Tour Reservations are strongly recommended and may be reserved 1-800-444-4445).

We have blocked out 20 rooms at the San Simeon Pines Seaside Resort.

Room choices are King with fireplace, King only, 2 Queens. Prices and quantities vary, first come, first choice.
We will start from Mimi's Cafe at Dublin at 9:00 a.m.
