About this event
Ravens and Qunsha Road Rally
The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will be sanctioning the first event of the 2013 Winter Road Rally Series on Sunday, November 17th. Head over to www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com today or our Road Rally in Alaska Facebook page, and you'll find information on our upcoming events. This Rally will be the second competition event of the Inaugural Hawaii and Arctic Alaska Region Rally Challenge Weekend. Saturday, November 16th, will be the E Komo Mai Qunsha Rallycross, at the Alaska State Fairgrounds. You can find registration for that event at motorsportreg too!
We are so very fortunate that three Rallymasters have stepped up to take on the responsibility of putting together challenging, clean (no busts) and creative Road Rallies for the upcoming Winter Series! Rallymasters want to know that rallyists are planning to attend and looking forward to competing on their rallies. We look forward to having you rally with us and encourage you to register online today!
Cheryl Lynn will be the Rallymaster for the Ravens and Qunsha Road Rally. She wrote, “My parents made me go to my first event back in the 1970’s and it was love at first checkpoint! The camaraderie, challenge, and creativeness—along with the adventure of hitting the open road—have led to miles of roads while competing on rallies and while in search of rally roads from the Susitna Valley and Matanuska Valley, to the Copper River Valley, and the far reaches of the Kenai Peninsula. Many Alaska motorsport enthusiasts think of the sport of Road Rally and Cheryl as one in the same. Yes, I do still enjoy the sport, yet I encourage you to come join Alaska's Road Rally Family and expose yourself to this great sport!”
Given the generous volunteer hours needed to go into our events — from the pre-check workers time, Rallymaster re-check calcs/printing, and rally expenses—we need your registrations as soon as you know you'll be running! Please do not wait until the last minute — show your interest to our Rallymasters! We don't have the early dates in 2014 selected, yet when we do, please consider taking time to register for the full season today or as many as you are sure you'll be able to take in right now and you'll be set for the season.
The starting location for Ravens and Qunsha Road Rally will be Carr's Jewel Lake near the Starbuck's and Deli, with 9:00A Registration.
You do need to arrive at 9:00A as you will need to take care of final registration matters, your vehicle tech inspection and more! So that you may plan the rest of your day, you should wrapped-up with rallying and learning of the finishing scores by Noon, as our fellow Hawaii Region members need to have time to get to the airport for their trek back to the islands.
Don't have a dedicated rally partner? No worries—we are encouraging folks to arrive and form teams at the starting location! Register up so folks know you're looking for a rally partner.
Event requirements
REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
We encourage all of you planning to enter this event to register here at http://www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com. One of your team will need to register the vehicle and their position on the team (Driver or Navigator) and the other will need to register their position on the team and personal information only. The entry fee for the Winter Road Rally Series is $15 per team member, with members of our sanctioning body, the Sports Car Club of America, receiving a $5.00 discount. Please bring exact cash or check for payment at the event.
Due to the nature of the motorsport known as Road Rally, Rallymasters must have ample copies of the Route Instructions and Checkpoint Slips prepared in advance of the event; there are no copiers along the highway! This is why we need your registration here and we will keep online registration open until 6:00P on Saturday, November 16th.
You may also call Cheryl at 243-2122 to register for Ravens and Qunsha Road Rally versus online registration.
DRIVERS LICENSES
Drivers must present a valid driver’s license. If under 18-years-of-age, competitors (anyone in the vehicle) will need an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition. Contact the Region at 243-2122 or 745-2013 (9A-7P) to obtain a form prior to the event if parents are not going to be at the event to sign.
CLASSES and VEHICLE INSPECTION
The SCCA will recognize Expert and Novice Classes for this event.
Each team will be required to complete a Vehicle Inspection prior to the start of competition.
