WEEKEND IN CHARLESTON INCLUDING THE ANNUAL DOCK PARTY
FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 2020 – CHARLESTON HARBOR TOUR:
Enjoy the beauty of the Charleston Harbor and learn the rich history of the Holy City. During the scenic and relaxing 90 minute tour, you will see over 75 landmarks and points of interest covering over 300 years of history! Climb aboard the Carolina Belle for Charleston's top rated harbor tour. Fully stocked bar and snack bar on board with items for purchase too! Your professional USCG licensed captain will narrate history, sights, and facts about the Charleston Harbor as you pass locations critical to United States history. This family-friendly, relaxing, and insightful cruise is the best way to discover the Holy City and its famous Harbor!
The tour will begin boarding at 5:45 pm with a departure time of 6:00 pm. Cost of the tour is $30 per person.
NOTE: Due to construction of the International African American Museum (IAAM), there is no parking at the Charleston Maritime Center. The closest parking to the Maritime Center will be in the SC Aquarium Parking Garage located at 24 Calhoun Street, just before the intersection of Concord Street. We have arranged to have transportation to and from the Hampton Inn at Patriot’s Point to the Maritime Center for our members at a cost of $15 each.
SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2020 – ANNUAL DOCK PARTY:
Located at the home of Past President Henry & Katherine Dunbar, the address is 2235 Lazy River Drive, Charleston, SC. 29414. Your cars will again be on display in their front yard and the party will be in their large waterfront backyard, right on the Intracoastal Waterway. Event is rain or shine.
Start arriving at 10 AM to sign in and park your car. You will have some time to grab a drink, socialize and vote for your favorite Mercedes-Benz. Our annual Low Country Boil, shrimp and all, prepared by Katherine and friends, will begin at noon. Besides the cars and socializing, there's LOTS to eat and drink. The cost for all the food and drink is only $25 per person.
Dress is picnic/beach casual and you can bring folding chairs if you would like. There is also seating provided on the patio. Don’t forget your name badges!
This event is well attended every year so don't wait to sign up. Members, their families, friends, and even their dogs are invited!! It’s a great event for new members and those who have yet to attend a Club social event. You will definitely make new friends. We usually wrap up by 3:30 PM, but you are free to help clean up, take a swim, or just sit out on the dock over the water.
HOTEL - We have arranged for hotel rooms for those that will be staying the weekend at the Charleston Hampton Inn in Charleston/Mount Pleasant-Patriot Point at the rate of $139.00. You can make hotel reservations at this time by calling the hotel directly at 843-881-3300 and tell them you are with the MBCA – Carolinas Section. We will have informal social times at breakfast and after events in the hotel lobby for MBCA members and guests.
