A low pressure timed rally starting at the GPNY parking lot in Mt Kisco, NY.  Registration will open at 5pm and end at 6:30.  We're not using online registration here, only at the start of the event.   Drivers meeting at 6:30, first car leaves at 7pm.  The rally could be 2 to 4 hours long (thats for you to find out) and could end anywhere (thats for you to find out).  A dash plaque will be given to all entrants, a trophy (or a credit to a future event) to the top 10% of cars finishing.  There will be a separate class and trophy for "all ladies" and "husband/wife" teams.

 What is it?:

Our rallies are trick rallies.  You will be handed ambiguous instructions to drive a route around the back roads of Westchester.  Like "make fourth left" or "turn right after you see the word 'bridge'" or "make your first acute right after the fourth arrow sign you pass".  You will be timed from the start to each checkpoint to the finish and are expected to maintain set average speeds per the instructions.  As you make wrong turns and have to backtrack, pull over to figure something out, or just slowing for curves and stop signs, you will have to increase your speed until you've "caught back up" to the set average speed and where you should be at that second on the course.  If you go too fast, you're early.... if you didn't go far enough to get to where you should be on the course at each second, you're late.  Scoring is based on how early or late you arrive at each checkpoint.  Also, there are hidden signs and symbols along the course that the navigator needs to write down in the proper order they appear on the course.  Every time you miss one or write them in the incorrect order, you are also penalized.

Isn't it illegal to do this on public roads?:

No, you are a citizen driving on public roads with directions.  You choose to drive how you want.  The entire rally could be completed slower than the speed limit if you never have to stop or slow down.  The more mistakes you make, the faster you need to go to "catch up" to your perfect average time.  The faster you drive is your choice.  The rally will be on mostly back roads with little traffic, but there will be other cars, joggers, dog walkers, and while these roads are not the type of roads a speed trap would be, there are always random police driving around.  Choose wisely how you drive.  On the other hand, these are fantastic roads going through sometimes wooded  and sometime farm and sometimes secluded mansion areas.  Enough for any driver or passenger in any type of vehicle to enjoy!
