Stan Parker Memorial Race 2012 (North Atlantic Premier Event Status)
Please join us for the 2012 Genesse Valley BMW CCA Stan Parker Memorial Race! We have named to North Atlantic Premier Event Status for this race.
Stan was one of the original BMW Club Racers, a Comp Steward, and one of the founding members of GVC BMW CCA.
There will be plenty of track time with a full schedule on Saturday and Sunday plus an optional practice day on Friday (mandatory for rookies and/or racers new to Watkins Glen International).
There will be two Sprint Races on Saturday. Each Sprint is worth 150% points. We also expect to run a fun/qualifying race on Sunday morning in which fast laps from the fun race will set the grid for the Enduro. The feature Stan Parker Race will be the first Sprint on Saturday.
The cost for Friday Practice Day is $125.00.
The cost for the Saturday and Sunday Event is $450.00.
Payment must be made through this site. We will accept checks at the track, but we will not accept cash payments this year.
Camping is available at the track beginning Thursday night, May 3, 2012.
Any questions, please email registrar Mary at firstname.lastname@example.org or John Bulbulia at email@example.com.
NOTE: Friday is required for all rookies and first timers to Watkins Glen International.
The host hotel is the famous Seneca Lodge (http://www.senecalodge.com/), located at the upper entrance to Watkins Glen State Park off NY 329. The Lodge is famous for its food and racing heritage. The bar is notable for its collection of over 60 years of racing memorabliia. Another favorite place to stay very close to the track is the Falls Motel in nearby Montour Falls. http://www.thefallsmotel.com. These places fill quickly, so make reservations early.
Many other types of lodging can be found in Watkins Glen, from cozy bed-and-breakfasts (http://www.bbonline.com/ny/watkins+glen.html) to the luxurious Watkins Glen Harbor Hotel (http://www.watkinsglenharborhotel.com/). Camping is available at Watkins Glen State Park (http://nysparks.state.ny.us/parks/142/details.aspx) and at many other private campgrounds.
Because of the Club Race, camping is free at the track for this school. Electrical hookup (for a small fee) is available by special arrangement with WGI. The track is locked after 11 PM and there is security on-site. Many other off-track campsites are available in the area, including Watkins Glen State Park, which has one of the most scenic gorges in the Finger Lakes.
