Performance Driving Experience (PDX)
Ever noticed the phrase "Professional driver on a closed course" at the bottom of your TV screen during an ad? We have a closed course - Come be the driver!
A PDX event gives you the chance to drive your car on a racetrack. All you need is a registered street car, a valid driver's license and a helmet. You will improve your driving skills and learn how to better control your car at higher speeds than are legal on public roads. And you'll have fun!
If you're ready to have your on-track performance timed, then a Club Trial is for you. Club Trials build on the experience drivers have gained in PDX while enabling them to officially track their lap times to see improvement. A Club Trial is the second level of the SCCA Time Trials program
*If you bring people along, be sure to remind them to ask about “Instructor Ride Along” opportunities available to them for a small fee while they are on site.
Who and what cars are elgible?
All drivers must be at least 18 years of age and possess a current valid driver's license issued by his or her state of residence. Drivers between the ages of 16 and 18 may be allowed but must have prior approval from the Chief Driving Instructor and the Safety Steward of the event and must have approval of SCCA Club Racing to participate via an SCCA competition license with Minor Waiver on file or other written approval.
Convertibles*, unless they are equipped with a hard top or an approved roll bar/hoop, are not allowed. Convertibles with factory rollover protection are allowed (e.g. most "pop-ups"). It is the entrant's responsibility to confirm that his or her owner's manual lists "roll over protection," and this must be presented at Tech Inspection. Vehicles with other removable tops (t-tops, targa tops, etc.) must meet appropriate safety regulations. Be sure to check this link to Level 1 PDX Rules.
*Note: The 2002 Porsche Boxster, the Honda S2000 and the MINI Cooper Convertibles have been approved by the manufacturer as having factory rollover protection and may enter a SCCA Track Day (PDX) Event.
Should I do anything before I arrive at a PDX?
