SCCA Autocross & Drag Solo Weekend

Alaska Raceway Park

About this event

The Arctic Alaska Region, of the Sports Car Club of America, will be sanctioning the Spring Cleaning Solo & Drag Weekend — Come Blow Out the Carbon! at Alaska Raceway Park over the May 4-5th Weekend. Event Chairman Al Mills has the band back together with David Bathke, Bill Demming, and David Oliver stepping forward to serve as Safety Stewards and Course Designers! At the planning meeting, Mills said, "This is for fun and to have drive time — we're going to see some familiar faces and good times! Seat time, smiles and Solo — what is a better way to spend the day...or a weekend!"

Saturday will be a traditional autocross with runs — you know there are a minimum of four, yet Come Blow Out the Carbon in the anticipated eight runs. Sunday will begin with a traditional autocross course with all competitors getting at least six runs: four timed and two solo drag runs. Anything past six runs is up to you as the Driver! Never heard of Solo Drags? The course will have 2 cars starting on opposite ends, and using handicaps based on trial runs, they start with lights and the first to complete a clean run and arrive at their starting line wins and moves to the next bracket race!

Alaska Raceway Park is located off Sullivan Road on the Old Glenn Highway.

Schedule for Saturday and Sunday Morning
8:00AM - Solo Team Arrival
9:00-9:30 AM  — Onsite Registration Open
10AM — Driver's Meeting
All competitors will need to come by the Registration Table upon arrival — both those who registered online and those who choose to register at the event either morning. Note that Registration is only open for 30-minutes. You will then head to Tech for your vehicle inspection. It is best to arrive early so you'll have time to settle your gear, prepare your car, get through Tech, and walk the course!

Our Driver's Meeting will include a brief talk by the Safety Steward and the Solo Team will cover the responsibilities each of your will have while working corners during your "work group"! This is event is a go—rain or shine—and as you'll be working opposite your "run group" please bring hats, layers for body warmth, sunblock/lipschitz, and foot wear for the elements.

Our Solo Team are providing lunch for Competitors and Workers, as there are no restaurants nearby, so you will not be able to leave the site to travel into Palmer. Saturday will be hot dogs on the grill with salads 'n chips (and no doubt cookies), and Sunday will be Subway samiches with the leftover salads and chips from Saturday. Water will be provided by the Region.

Please arrive early to allow time to settle your gear, prepare your car, and get through Tech Inspection before the Walk-Thru. Remember, all loose items will need to be out of your car and your battery will need to be solidly secured—no bungee cords!

Don't forget your valid Driver's License!

Event requirements

REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
All competitors are encouraged to pre-register (versus "event morning" registration) at the official online registration site: www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com for the May 4-5th weekend of events.

Entry fees are $30 for SCCA Members each day or $40 for both days! SCCA offers a Weekend Membership of $5 which will be on top of the $30 and $40 entry fees. A Weekend Membership fee makes you an SCCA Weekend Member and will give you a $15 discount towards a full SCCA membership, a copy of "SportsCar" (our national magazine), and is valid for the all SCCA-sanctioned events held during that weekend. Where else are you going to find two-days of autocross for only $20 bucks a day with lots of seat time!?!

If under 18-years-of-age, competitors will need a Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition.
