The San Diego Region SCCA is pleased to present its autocross driving school for the first half of 2013 on May 5, 2013. Our autocross program is known for producing high quality competitors, and this school is one reason why. Taught by veteran SCCA drivers and instructors, we feature a 2:1 student/driver ratio to ensure the most instructional time behind the wheel behind the wheel possible.
In the morning, we will hold driving exercises on two separate areas. Following a complimentary lunch and some fun rides with the instructors, we will connect the courses and the students will take the wheel for some timed runs.
The program begins with a non-mandatory ground school on Saturday the 4th. The ground school, which is split into beginner and intermediate sessions, is intended to introduce the basic terminology and concepts required for high performance driving. Both segments are located at C2 Motorsports, 8380 Vickers Street Suite D, San Diego, CA (phone 858-495-9200). The beginning segment will start at 3pm, and the intermediate segment at 4:30 pm. If you can't make the driving school the next day, you are welcome to attend the ground school anyway.
Event requirements
Attendees of the driving school must be SCCA members. If you are not already a member, a temporary weekend membership is included in the entry fee.
Most types of cars, except those with a high center of gravity, may be used with the school. The car must pass a safety inspection before it can be driven in the event. Prior to the inspection, the cars should be cleaned out to a ready to race condition. Tires, brakes, and seat belts are among the items inspected. The car should be free of fluid leaks, and the battery must be securely mounted. Car numbers are encouraged if you have already been assigned one, but not required.
Helmets must be SA2000 or M2000 or later. A limited number of loaner helmets are available. Students in the school are eligible for a 10% discount on helmets purchased by May 15, 2013 at C2 Motorsports (858)495-9200.
