Richmond Historical Tour

Richmond VA

About this event

Richmond Historical Tour

Due to the high chance of a wintry mix in the western part of the state on Saturday morning and significant rain during the day on Saturday, the Shenandoah Region PCA is rescheduling our Richmond Historical Tour, originally set for this Saturday, February 23, 2013, to the next day, Sunday, February 24, 2013. The itinerary will stay the same, so we’ll start at 10:00 AM with a guided tour of The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar. The forecast for Sunday is sunny and mid 50’s, perfect for a Porsche outing!

Note: Those wishing to make a tax-deductible donation to Tredegar, please make your checks payable to “ACWC at Tredegar” with “Restoration” in the subject line.

Event requirements

This event has come together on very short notice, but it’s a wonderful
opportunity for you to shake off the winter blues, step back in time,
and enjoy an afternoon with your Porsche friends. On Saturday,
February 23, 2013 join fellow Shenandoah member and our
guide for the day Anne Wilkes as we start in Richmond with a visit
to The American Civil War Center at Historic Tredegar, the former
1861 Tredegar Gun Foundry. This is our nation’s first museum
to interpret the Civil War from Union, Confederate, and African
American perspectives. Afterward, we’ll take a short drive to Rocketts
Landing, just east of the city, for a lunch at M Bistro and Wine Bar
with selections inspired by Country French and Southern cuisines.
While there we’ll learn more about Richmond’s rich history. To top
off our outing we’ll take a drive east alongside the scenic James River
to Shirley Plantation in Charles City for a tour of Virginia’s oldest
plantation, which dates back to 1613.
