Agenda

Fri, June 7    Drive from Seattle area to Benton City to enjoy a first class welcome to Red Mountain with a private tasting and tour at Col Solare, then a casual dinner at Fidelitas Wines.

Sat, June 8   Enjoy wine tasting day with organized group events including lunch and dinner, with a free afternoon to explore Red Mountain.

Sun, June 8  Morning of organized wine tasting and informal lunch.

Registration for this tour is limited to 20 cars or 40 people, whichever comes first

The three day event will begin on Friday morning... in a parking lot.  But it only gets better from there.  We will cruise over the Cascades, led by our driving tour leader Scott, on a journey that includes fun roads, fun people and a picnic lunch on the warmer side of the mountains.  We will arrive in Benton City, the heart of Red Mountain, for a guided tour of Col Solare and their beautiful vineyards and wine, then treated with dinner and wine at Fidelitas Wines just down the hill.  The evening ends in Richland for the first of two nights at the Courtyard Marriott Columbia Point on the edge of the Columbia River.

We will start Saturday with a very special event, touring a wine production facility where many of Red Mountain's best wines are created.  The tour presenter will be none other than Charlie Hoppes, who will share his stories of how Red Mountain has evolved into a premiere Washington growing region, and how wine is being made at the facility.  Rumor has it that a few 2012 barrels might be available to taste an early representation of what is being called a near perfect vintage.

After the production facility, we return to Red Mountain for wine tasting and catered lunch at Kiona Vineyards on their large patio overlooking the vineyards and Benton City.  After lunch, there will be a couple more wineries in store for us, including a personal favorite of mine, Hightower Cellars.  There will be some free time in the afternoon for those who want to visit a specific winery or destination that is not included in the tour.  Saturday night will culminate with a 3 minute walk from the hotel to our dinner destination where we will enjoy a private dining room and, you guessed it, more wine.  Or a cocktail, I don't discriminate.

Sunday (yes, you'll have to wake up on Sunday) will be a little more relaxed as we wrap up the tour.  We'll drive a few miles south for a visit to Goose Ridge and their beautiful tasting room, and conclude with an informal visit to a collection of smaller wineries and lunch for those who are interested.

The agenda is structured to be group-focused and the registration fee will include most meals and all winery fees for the weekend. The cost is $195 per person fee.  The registration fee is non-refundable, but I will be accepting waitlist registrations if you need to give up your spot.  Lodging will be reserved separately, and you will receive further instructions once you are confirmed for the tour.  Discounted rooms are available from $129 to $149 per night.

Included Meals

Dinner Friday

Fidelitas Wines is our host as we take over the winery and spacious patio overlooking the Yakima Valley for a private evening with Fidelitas wines by the glass and one of Tri-Cities best taco vendors serving as many delicious street tacos as you can consume.  A classic Eastern Washington experience!

Lunch Saturday

Kiona Vineyards will host us at their beautiful winery in a private room overlooking the valley where we will be treated to a private tasting and catered lunch.

Dinner Saturday Night

Anthony’s Homeport – You are probably familiar with Anthony’s restaurants on our side of the mountains.  The Richland location receives daily air deliveries of fresh Pacific Northwest seafood along with Double R Ranch beef.

A four course dinner will be enjoyed in a private room overlooking the river with a garden patio to mingle before and after dinner.

Parking

  • Hotel: The hotel has a spacious lot and we will have a reserved area for BMW parking.
  • Wine Tasting: Some wineries are smaller lots, which will require us to park stacked like we have in the past for group driving tours.
  • Group Dinner: No parking required, the restaurant is a short 3 minute walk from the hotel!

Remember, registration for this tour is limited to 20 cars or 40 people, whichever comes first, due to the limited space at some of the venues we are visiting.

If you have any questions, please contact Dane Martin at bmw@pc-resource.com or 206-274-5274 (evenings or leave a message).
