Do you like autocross?
Wish you were faster?
Then you need to go to
To benefit the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix and their charities (Autism Society of America and the Allegheny Valley School), the Steel Cities Region Solo program will be holding an autocross / solo school at PittRace on Saturday 7/12/13 and Sunday 7/13/13. All proceeds will be donated to the PVGP.
Frank Gaus, Steel Cities 2011 & 2012 Solo Driver of the Year, will head the school with perennial hotshoes like Chris Carlisle, Kristi Gaus, and Greg Vincent as additional instructors.
Students are welcome to attend either Saturday, Sunday, or both days. Registration for either day costs $100. Space for this school is limited, with only 15 students per day being accepted. Lunch and water is included with your registration cost.
Instruction will be tailored to the individual student's needs. Have you just started out? Expect to learn a LOT from our very experienced instructors to help get you over that initial learning curve that everyone that autocrosses has to go through. Learn how to approach walking the course, what you can do to stop being surprised out on course, the techniques needed to drive typical autocross course elements, and much more.
Are you a little more experienced? We'll help you focus on finding the right balance between too much and not enough aggression, how to get to your best run quicker, figuring out where that last second or two between you and the leaders might be, and more.
Expect to get twenty to thirty runs in your car. Instructors will drive student cars to demonstrate techniques (with student permission). You'll need an autocross ready vehicle & helmet, just like for any autocross. Limited #'s of loaner helmets are available. Students will be required to sign a PVGP waiver and will work the course at times during the day.
Pre-registration is highly recommended as we expect spaces to fill up quickly. Plan to arrive so that you're ready to go by 8:30am. You'll be playing all day, finishing up by 5pm. Just to be clear, this is not an SCCA sanctioned event, though safety (and fun!) will remain our top priority.
