Porsche Club of America – San Diego Region welcomes you!
Join us as we make our triumphant return to Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, NV, February 28 and March 1! We'll be driving their all new state-of-the-art Hunt Course, which promises to be exciting and challenging (see below). Pahrump is closer than you might think (not much further than Buttonwillow), and much more fun than most track towns. And Vegas is only an hour away! Late February/early March is a great time to be in the Nevada desert, so be sure to carefully read everything on both this page and the next before signing up so that you aren't shut out.
This event features both a Driver's Ed (DE) and a Time Trial (TT), with separate run groups for each event and differing entrant requirements (DE events have no driving prerequisites, TT does). The DE for this event is being hosted by Grand Prix Region, with separate registration available at http://msreg.com/GPXSM15. Please read the info below regarding the difference between a DE and a TT so that you sign up for the event you want and are qualified for.
The Time Trial is for intermediate and advanced drivers and works like a Driver's Ed event during practice, but features Transponder timing during all sessions with times posted online immediately thereafter as well as in the Club's permanent record database after the event. In addition, there is an optional Timed Runs session at the end of the event which is when you can set an official time for the event. The DE is for drivers of all levels and has no official timing, though in-car timers are currently permitted except for novices. Qualified DE drivers may also optionally participate in Timed Runs at the end of the event. All TT spots are allocated first come, first served, but with 2 day participants taking priority over 1 day participants. Student spots are currently being Waitlisted. If you sign up and a spot does not become available for you, you will not be charged. Thus, if you are interested in participating, indicate your interest by signing up ASAP.
You may sign up for any one or both days. The base price for this event (assumes early registration, no need to rent anything, etc.) is $270 for the weekend. Track time per entrant is expected to be approximately 3 hours, and traffic is anticipated to be low so everyone should be able to get tons of flying laps. Our $/hour ratio is among the lowest of any group, especially when you factor in the quality aspect. See the Payment section below for more info.
To register we require that you join the PCA - San Diego group here on MotorsportReg.com (note: this just means adding PCA - San Diego to your list of Clubs on MotorsportReg; it does not make you a member of PCA). Regardless of which region of PCA you belong to or if you don't belong to PCA at all, you must join the SDR group on this web site (again, doing so will not make you a member of PCA). This will be done as a step in the registration process. Non-Porsches that meet our rules are welcome!!!
Season Pass: For those drivers who plan to run with us all season long – see our complete schedule here – we again offer the Season Pass at no up-front cost! Track rental rates have been rising each year and yet we have not had a significant price increase in several years. In fact, in 2013 we LOWERED PRICES for early registration (defined as at least 2 weeks prior to the event), providing drivers that register in a timely fashion with the same prices they paid back in 2007. Even with hefty increases from some of the tracks we are holding tight on prices for 2015, and yet with a Season Pass you can get an even better deal and two free gifts!
Sign up for the Season Pass with this event then simply pay for and attend all days of all of our TT or DE events this year (TT'ers may skip up to 3 event-days, and registration in the Club Race portion of a joint TT/CR event qualifies as attendance; DE'ers may skip up to 2 DE event-days and are exempt from events that do not offer a DE) while receiving $25 off the then-current online price of each multi-day event ($10 per single-day event; note that it is your responsibility after signing up to claim the Season Pass discount at each event – it isn't automatic). And you automatically move to the top of the Waitlist for any event you sign up for that is full. You'll also receive two exclusive free gifts just for signing up: a knit beanie featuring the Porsche crest and denoting your series participation, and an SDR-logo'd Nomex balaclava (perfect to keep you safe and that Snell 2015 helmet you're planning to buy nice and clean). Combined with early registration prices for events, with a Season Pass you'll be paying what we charged way back in 2003! You will not be charged anything up-front and will be entitled to the above discount at each SDR-managed track event in 2015 including the California Festival of Speed. If you miss more event-days than permitted, you will be back-billed for the cumulative discounts you received plus $50 to cover the cost of the gifts you received. Complete details will be sent to you after you sign up and you may opt out at that time with no cost or obligation. It's simple, costs you nothing, showers you with exclusive gifts, and potentially saves you $175 over the course of the season! Note: the design above is for illustrative purposes only and may be different than the actual production garments. Note that gift availability is not guaranteed, and first-come, first-served. Also, if this is your first SDR track event of the year you will have already missed 2 of your allowed 3 days.
Physical Damage Insurance – NEW: Insurance for your car is available for this event via Lockton Affinity, LLC, PCA's exclusively endorsed insurance provider. Event Info on your Mobile Phone: You may sign up for our mobile phone timing and notification system as part of your registration for this event. Event Hotel: Pahrump Nugget, 681 S. Highway 160, Pahrump, NV, 775-751-6500. Ask for group code S22715, which for the first 25 rooms booked before February 20, should be $67.39 per night including tax. As always, be sure to ask for the best available rate, in case they have a better offer at the time you call. Should the Nugget be booked up, you may try the Best Western Pahrump Station, 1101 S. Highway 160, Pahrump, NV, 775-727-5100. While we don't have a group rate there and it may be a bit more expensive, we understand they have recently done some rennovations. It is suggested that you call soon and directly, rather than using the travelnow.com links to the right in order to get the best rate.
Camping at the Track: You may camp at the track. Please phone Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch for details and to make arrangements. There may be fees payable to the track in order to camp.
Late Registration: You must register with credit card on file by 11:59 pm February 13 to receive the discounted online rate; after that a $50 late fee applies through February 22. Online registration closes at 11:59 pm February 22, after which even higher on-site registration fees apply, if even available.
