This format consists of two cars on a full circuit course racing to complete one lap and return to their start/finish line before the other car. The format is a double elimination tournament with each Duel being the best two of three runs.
Rules:
Tournament Seeding:
The tournament seeding will be determined by the morning points event.
AWD and 2WD cars will be seeded separately on the same tournament bracket.
Neccesary runs will be given to the lowest seeds.
Contenders that are eliminated in the tournament will be re-seeded in a Second chance bracket.
1st and 2nd place will be determined by the primary bracket, while 3rd and 4th will be determined by the second chance bracket.
Two Driver Cars:
The drivers of two driver cars will be seeded separately.
In the event that both drivers meet in a Duel, the drivers will take their runs separately which will be timed by the judges. The quickest driver will be declared the winner of the run.
Times will not be disclosed.
Start:
Cars will start perpendicular to the track in a "starting box" to the left of their start/finish line.
The judge at each line will stage their car and then indicate to the starter in the middle of the track that the car is ready.
The starter will use an arm-drop to begin the round.
Penalites:
Each car is FORGIVEN one pylon per run.
Hitting a second pylon, or missing a gate is a DNF and the win will go to the other car.
If a red flag is given for a safety issue that is not related to a de-bead or mechanical issue, the cars will return to their starting boxes and the run will be restarted.
Finish:
Cars will complete one lap and cross their start/finish line.
Determining a winner:
The judge who believes their car was the first to cross their start/finish line after completing a whole lap will raise a flag.
The judges and starter may not confer about the winner until one has been declared.
If only one judge has raised a flag, the judges are assumed in agreement and a winner of the run is declared.
If both judges raise their flags, the result is declared in dispute and another run is taken.
When one car of a Duel has been declared the winner for two runs, that car is is declared the winner of the Duel and advances to the next tier.
Mechanical/Debead:
If a debead or mechanical failure occurs that causes the run to be stopped, the causing car is declared DNF and loses the run.
A 10 minute mechanical will be given to the failing car for the first failure, and the Duel is put on hold.
If the car cannot return to the line in 10 minutes, or a second de-bead or mechanical failure occurs, the whole Duel is forfeit.
Finally the winners of AWD and 2WD will compete for ultimate glory and bragging rights.
