This rallye is a (dry!) throwback to the days of Prohibition. A time when you threw a case of illicit mason jars in the trunk of your suspiciously modified Ford and drove by the seat of your pants. Daisy Duke, Bo & Luke would love this competition - primarily because they'd finally have a legitimate charitable reason to outrun Boss Hog and his trusty lemming, Rosco P. Coltrane.
Better yet, this rallye gives Austinites an escape from the doldrums that are I35 and Mopac at rush hour, and lets competitors cane it down to the coast. This one-way competition also allows rallyers time to relax oceanside on Sunday and lazily meander back to town on their own schedule.

Special Notes:
At the morning's Ceremony of the Speakeasy, sealed cases of prohibition booze will be placed in the trunk or back seat of each runner. (Yes, this is all really cool and totally legal. Product includes beer, wine & spirits from Texas companies). Half of our bootlegger runners will win. Half will not. At the evening's Ceremony of the Bootleggers, the bottom placing half must relinquish their precious loot and place it in the winning runners cars.
So how do you win in this classic game of Cops & Robbers?
Over 100 Rallye Marshalls will be trying to identify our runners along roads that could make up your chosen route. Every time you are spotted by a Marshall, you earn a point. Teams with the least amount of points win. You won't know where they are and you won't have a clue who they are beforehand. However, we are limited in number. Will we be on the regularly traversed interstates? The rarely driven side roads? You have to make some choices. But what you do know is those Rallye Marshalls are looking for our bootleggers. And our bootleggers must try to avoid them. Otherwise you'll have to give up your precious loot.
