About this event

AUDI CLUB GOLDEN GATE

AudiFest - A Precision Driving School at Infineon Raceway

Welcome to the registration for the ACGG High Performance Driving School (HPDE). This driving event will be held over two days on the track at Infineon Raceway, covering over two miles of a challenging track with 12 turns and 200 feet elevation change. This track has been driven by the most famous names in Motorsports; Gurney, Gordon, Bell, Andretti, Probst, Earnhardt, Kanan, Ray, Patrick, and many many more. This is your chance to add your name to that list and spend two days on a world class track.

What is Audifest?
This is our yearly get-together at Infineon Raceway, one of the most famous race tracks in the country. It's your opportunity to learn about your car and yourself, and to also raise your driving skills in a learning environment that is fun and safe. It's also a chance to meet and socialize with a diverse group of people who really enjoy their Audi Brand of cars, and many other brands as well.

No matter your skill or confidence level, you will most certainly have fun at this Audi driving event. Novice drivers spend the morning of the first day with approximately 2 hours in the classroom followed by about 2 hours of driving exercises, which illustrate what you learned in the classroom, through practical drills, with active coaching.  It is these driving exercises that help you understand the dynamics of your vehicle. Classroom discussions and car control exercises are designed to enhance your ability to control your car, and increase overall knowledge of your car prior to going on track for the first time.

All students will have an instructor assigned to them for the entire track event. This one-on-one relationship allows us to provide maximum input to each student to ensure that all students get the most from their driving experience while we maintain a safe, controlled learning environment. Students will drive their own cars to assist them them in developing better driving skills “on the road,” and  in “real-life situations.”

After successful completion of car control sessions, the ramainder of the student's skill development is done on the track. We establish run groups that allow students to be on track with other drivers of similar experience and will move students between run groups as their skills improve and run group size allows. Novice students will always have an instructor in the car during on track sessions and have in-helmet communication to ensure easy communication. Passing is allowed only in designated sections of the course and under controlled circumstances, to insure as safe an environment as possible. Your time on the track will provide a great opportunity to safely learn advanced driving techniques and explore the capabilities of both you and your car that can keep you safe on the road.

Classroom Sessions:
This is a driver's education school and is not practice for any racing or speed contest. All participants are required to attend classroom sessions designed to teach vehicle dynamics and driving techniques. These sessions will continue throughout the day to help participants understand the fine art of precision driving.

Tech Inspection:
You will be encouraged to have a qualified individual/mechanic inspect your vehicle and verify its safety. This inspection should occur within four weeks of the event. In addition, at check-in on Friday afternoon there will be a tech inspection available. You are solely responsible for insuring that your vehicle is safe before you come to the track. Failure to present a completed Pre-Event Tech Inspection Report or failure to pass the tech inspection will disqualify you from participation in the event and your entry fee will be forfeited. Tech sheets are available for downloading from the clubs website.

You will need to have your Pre-Event tech inspection form filled out by your mechanic no more than 30 days prior to the event.. By having your car pre-teched you save a lot of time during the check in process.

Note: At this time, the Audi Club North America and the Golden Gate chapter of this organization are re-evaluating the current Technical Inspection process to determine if it is the most appropriate and best process for the club, this chapter, and the members. As a result, it is highly likely that the technical inspection for this event will be different from what we have done in the past. Please be aware, and please expect to receive an email that explains this process in more detail as it evolves and is solidified.

Cost, Membership and Identification:
The entry fee is $595 for students to attend the 2 day school, while the entry fee for instructors is $295.  The Audi Club Golden Gate is offering earlybird specials for this event, and if you register before 08/31/2012, you will pay a reduced price for the event.  Earlybird registration for students is $495 and Earlybird registration for instructors is $225.  Your registration fee entitles you to everything necessary for a weekend of learning more about your self and your car.  In addition to the track event on Saturday and Sunday, we are offering sandwhiches and soft drinks during the checkin and technical inspection processes.  Please join us on Friday night from 5:30 until 7PM for this light fare.

Hotel and Accommodations
The headquarters hotel for the event is the Sheraton Hotel in Petaluma, CA.  This hotel is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from the track.  The hotel has allowed us to reserve rooms for a few days before, or after our event, at these discounted rates, so if you're from out of the Bay Area, why not reserve a few extra days and enjoy all that the Napa, Sonoma, and other valleys have to offer.  Restaurants in Napa are often reserved for as much as 8 weeks in advance, so if you're interested in having a great meal while you're in town, think ahead and reserve your spot for dinner at one of these hotels.

It is important to note that we have made several changes to this year's events in order to streamline the schedule.  We recommend that you make your reservation at the Sheraton in Petaluma ASAP. This is a beautiful facility with very nice rooms and we managed to get a great rate for you as well as reserve the banquet and meeting rooms, so all meetings, banquet, and even tech inspection, will be held at the Sheraton and not at the racetrack.  This will allow us to relax once we arrive in the area and not have to drive anywhere for inspections, meetings, and banquets, making a safer and more enjoyable event for all.

We will also be changing the schedule of the meetings to reduce some of the redundancy that you've mentioned in your comments to us.  In order to increase the time for social interaction among all participants, we're planning on providing you with a track-related movie night on Friday, prior to the mandatory meet and greet session for students and instructors,

Who is the Audi Club Golden Gate?
Audi Club Golden Gate is a chapter of the Audi Club of North America (ACNA), a 501c(3) non-profit organization with the purpose of educating its members in driver education, driver safety training, and education about the Audi brand. ACGG serves the members in Northern California, NW Nevada, and Hawaii areas, but our events are open to Audi Club members, and we encourage you to bring your friends and family. To support the educational experience, ACGG offers events from new Audi introductions, Technical seminars, fun drives, Teen Driving clinics, social events, tours, and High Performance Driver Education throughout the year. Due to our good standing in the community, ACGG is able to take advantage of relationships with dealerships and well recognized private service centers around the geographic proximity to Northern California due to the fact we (ACNA) are the only Audi club recognized by Audi of North America. As a result, many of our sponsors offer discounts and special promotions available only to our club members.

Special offers from Audi and Audi Club North America

As a member of ACNA, you automatically become a member of ACGG if you live in our service area. As a member, you will receive a quarterly magazine from ACNA, as well as frequent emails from ACGG to keep you informed and up to date on all the scheduled events happening throughout the year. We are also fortunate to receive a $500 Audi Club credit available on the purchase of any new Audi or CPO Audis, plus discounts from many of our fine sponsors.

Other Requirements:
All participants must present a valid driver's license and be at least 18 years of age. Seat belts (same type for both driver and passenger) must be securely anchored to the floor and/or stock mountings. You will learn how to handle and control your vehicle. This will help to prepare you for emergencies that may occur in normal driving situations. It will also allow you to explore your capabilities as a driver and those of your vehicle. At no time will you be pushed or encouraged to go any faster than is comfortable for you. All participants will be organized into run groups in accordance with experience, skill, and type of vehicle.

Medical Information Form:

Additional (Special) Events

AudiFest will very likely also offer special events that our members can choose to do on Friday, if they arrive early enough to take part in these events.  At this time, we have not finalized the list of events, but it may include any or all of the following items

  • Fun Drive
    • Our invitation is for you to join several of us for a driving tour of the area to see some of the country that surrounds us in Sonoma & Napa County.   Our plan includes leaving the Sheraton Hotel between 10:30 and 11:00 am, at which time we will drive 30-40 minutes north to Calistoga, enjoy a great barbeque lunch, and go about discovering the sights of the local back roads.   We should return in plenty of time to complete Tech Inspection and participate in the meet-and-greet activities preceding the evening's schedule.   There is no set cost to this activity.  Lunch will not be extravagant, and the budget for sightseeing is completely voluntary.  Please sign up to help us be aware of those that want to join in, and then be at the front of the Hotel in time to leave as a group.   Questions?   Please connect with Larry Whitney at:  Larry@AudiClubGoldengate.org
  • Golf Outing
    • Due to a low response to the golf outing for 2012, we have decided to cancel this item, and remove it from the registration form.

Once these events are finalized, a notice will be sent to all that have registered, and they will be given the chance to add these items to their current registration.  So, you may go ahead and register, without the fear that you'll miss out on these fun events.
