About this event

LeMay Car Museum Tour: Saturday June 8, 2013

Audi Club Northwest introduces a new event for the 2013 Tour season. The LeMay Car Museum Tour is scheduled for Saturday June 8. This event will be a group visit to the LeMay Museum in Tacoma and includes a group lunch in a private area. The tour will be a combination of social event at the museum, with a group drive option later in the afternoon. The museum is one of the premiere automobile collections in the Northwest, and proclaims their collection as “America’s Car Museum”. Please visit www.lemaymuseum.org for more information about the museum.

The tour will meet at Audi of Tacoma @ 8:00am Saturday morning. We will meet in the front parking lot [facing I-5] of the dealership, which is located at 1701-B Alexander Avenue East, Fife 98424. A driver’s meeting will begin at 8:15am. Please be on time for the driver’s meeting. Look for tour leader Mark Yonker and a yellow Hyundai Tiburon. Audi of Tacoma will be sponsoring this tour, and will provide our group with a tech talk as well as coffee and snacks. From I-5 south take exit 136 Port of Tacoma Road. Turn right at end of exit. Make an immediate right onto Pacific Highway East (Old Hwy 99). Drive 0.6 miles to the light at Alexander Ave. Turn right onto Alexander and drive to end of road. Audi Porsche will be on your left. Turn left and drive past Porsche to Audi of Tacoma. We will meet in the front of the dealership.

The group will depart Audi of Tacoma at 9:30am for the very short drive to the LeMay Museum in Tacoma. The museum is located at 2702 East D. Street, Tacoma 98421. Group parking area to be determined, and this will be discussed at the morning driver’s meeting. Upon opening at 10:00am, we will enter the museum as a group and immediately go upstairs to the café to put in our orders for our 11:00am group lunch. Attendees can then take individual tours around the facility to areas of their interest. The group will meet again at 11:00am in the Boeing classroom for a private lunch for the Audi Club. After lunch, free time will be available at the museum until 2:00pm, when participants have two options.

Tour attendees who wish to continue to enjoy the museum in the afternoon may do so, while those drivers who wish to participate in an afternoon group drive should plan to meet in the parking lot at the event leader’s car for a 2:00pm driver’s meeting. The group drive will depart the museum by 2:30pm for a tour though Pierce or South King Counties to an exotic location to be determined. A group drive outline and tour route will be provided to each driver for this portion of the day prior to leaving the museum.

The afternoon tour will be about 100-150 miles, so please plan your fuel for the afternoon accordingly. There will be NO fuel stops on the afternoon tour. The drive will end between 5:00pm and 6:00pm, at which time drivers may plan individual routes home. This tour will include some lesser known and enjoyable roads throughout the area.

The cost for admission to the museum is $10.00 for adults and $8.00 for children 5-12. Parking at the museum is $5.00 per car. Participants will be asked to prepay admission and parking upon registering for the event. Options for prepaying lunch will be explained upon registration. Each driver will also be given a café menu and museum guide at the morning driver’s meeting.

Audi Club Northwest continues to offer new social and driving events each driving season. However, you do not need to own an Audi to participate in group tours. Drivers are encouraged to bring family and friends to participate and meet other Audi enthusiasts.
