East Troy Fall Tour
Sunday October 23, 2016
The Chicago Region invites you to join us on our Fall Tour -- an easy (approximately 2-hour) back-roads drive through northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. The tour will begin in McHenry, Ill., by the McDonald's on Rt. 31 and McCullom Lake Road and will end in East Troy, Wis., at the East Troy Railroad Depot and Museum.
The East Troy Railroad’s mission is to preserve the rail heritage of Wisconsin and America. The railroad owns, maintains and operates historic electric trolley and interurban rail cars on track completed by The Milwaukee Electric Railway & Light Company (TMER&L) in 1907.The rail line between Mukwonago and East Troy is the last remnant of TMER&L interurban rail system, which once operated more than 200 miles of track in southeastern Wisconsin.
We are planning to ride the train to the Elegant Farmer. Located 25 minutes from the depot, the Elegant Farmer is an upscale shopping experience featured on the Food Channel in 2009. It includes a deli (for lunch), a bakery and unique farm products. The Farmer is known for their apple pie baked in a brown paper bag and will be celebrating their Autumn Harvest Festival.
Train tickets are available at the East Troy Depot, are round-trip and good all day. Adults $12.50, Seniors (65+) $10.50, Children $8.00.
Event check-in will be held in the McHenry Commons parking lot just north of the McDonald's on Rt. 31 and McCullom Lake Road in McHenry.
