2015 Term Limits Proposal

CSRG

Jul 6, 2015 - Jul 26, 2015

Over the last few years the Club has found itself in the unenviable situation of having board members termed out without at least a corresponding number of candidates to replace them. Extending term limits will allow CSRG to retain enthusiastic & willing Board members while we build interest among new members to run for board positions. While the membership still has the power over who sits on the board, this measure will at least minimize the loss of brain trust in the event that new candidates not emerge. Please let us know how you feel about changing the Term Limits in the CSRG Bylaws by voting Yes or No on the following proposal.

Locke de Bretteville, CSRG President

Vote Yes or No on adopting the following Resolution to change the CSRG Bylaws:

Whereas the current CSRG Bylaws specify that:

         Directors shall serve a term of two years following the election to the Board, and may be re-elected by vote of the Voting Members. No Director shall serve in continuous office for more than two consecutive terms. (THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN AMENDED 1990 FROM There is no limit to the number of terms a Director may serve.) and

Whereas it is desirable to assure stability and continuity in the management of CSRG during a period of significant uncertainty and change in the Vintage and Historic motorsports landscape; and

Whereas, over the past several years, there have been few candidates willing to run for the Board of Directors; and

Whereas CSRG finds itself in the position of losing Directors due to term limits, yet finding too few candidates available to replace them;

Therefore, the Voting Members of CSRG hereby amend the Bylaws by replacing the following requirement:

      No Director shall serve in continuous office for more than two consecutive terms.

with:

      No Director shall serve in continuous office for more than five consecutive terms.
