Tidewater Sports Car Club is planning to hold an event at ACADEMI training facility  (formerly known as Blackwater) in Moyock NC on June 29th and 30th. We have several options for the format of this event and are soliciting feedback from the membership regarding what type event they would attend. Depending on the format, the number of participants would be limited thus dictating the cost per entrant.

Cost to the club varies on the course layout used.  The format chosen will directly impact which of the layouts we can safely and successfully hold the event on.

Prices listed in the options below are projections based on the course layout deemed most appropriate, insurance fees and the number of competitors the board feels we can safely support.  While these prices are as close as we can currently determine they are not final and could shift upward or downward though it is not anticipated it any adjustment would be significant.  Also, the prices listed are for members.  Non-members can anticipate a $5-10 per day premium to be added to the cost.

The current program of providing a $5 discount for on-line pre-registration would not be available for these events.  We would NOT be able to allow walk-ups for the days of the event due to requirements for submitting participant information to Academi prior to the event and non-registered individuals would not be able to get onto the facility.

Depending on the event format, the board may chose to limit entrants to members only and will most certainly open registration for members well in advance of non-members.

Full memberships do not include any of these events.

Any event held at Academi would be a non-points event.

The event format options are:

1. An Autocross Event.  The last TSCC event at the Academi facility was a two day autocross event which was well received.  This format would mirror our normal event including a standing start with timing, a finish and cones would be used to increase the technical difficulty as well as control maximum speeds.  This type of event would allow the maximum number of competitors.  The approximate cost for such an event would be $60 for the weekend or $35 for a single day entry.
2. A Time Trial Event. For those familiar with the format used at Gripfest events this is the style event that would be held.  This is NOT a lapping event.  The course would consist of a standing start with timing, a single transit of the course and a finish with a braking zone.  Competitors would exit the course after every lap.  This format would limit the number of participants and increase the cost.  The approximate cost would be $85 for the weekend or $50 for a single day entry.
3. A Lapping Event. TSCC's first event at this facility was a members only lapping event.  This format would consist of competitors divided into small groups based on driver experience and vehicle performance potential.  Cars would be required to maintain spacing and passing would most likely not be allowed.  Currently the board has not decided but it is likely there would be an experience requirement for participants of this type of event.  In order to provide the greatest balance of track time and safety, the number of participants would be very limited thus increasing the cost per entrant.  The approximate cost for the weekend would be $150 or $85 for a single day entry.

Option #4 on both questions indicates you would NOT attend any sort of event on a road course whether for financial, safety or philosophical reasons.

Chose option #5 on the second question if you are only interested in attending autocross style events.

Note: Respondants that choose the same type of event for both answers will have their second answer discarded.
