TIMING & SCORING

This is the nerve center of the Club Race and is an indoor assignment.

During each qualifying session, sprint race, and enduro race we need to verify that each car has an electronic transponder that sends a signal to wire loops embedded in the track pavement.  That signal indicates the car number and driver that have just crossed the start/finish. That information goes to a computer in the timing & scoring tower that uses special software to record the racer’s lap times.  The computer does the primary timing and tracking, but we do a manual back-up to track the position of all cars each time they pass the start/finish line in the event that the computers fail. GATE DUTY

Greet PittRace attendees, racers and spectators, and ensure all have signed PCA waivers and know where they should go upon arrival to PittRace.

CORNER WORKERS

Working the corners is a fun and action packed assignment. Each corner throughout the track is manned by 1-2 professional SCCA corner workers. Here we assign a maximum of 2 volunteers to each corner to assist the SCCA corner worker. We have many volunteers who return each year and request a specific corner or corner worker.

There is no better way to get closer to the action unless you are actually driving!!  Read more...

GRID & PITS

Welcome to the grid!  We appreciate your volunteering to help us to grid and release the cars onto the track.

When working the grid, you will do a safety check on each car. The two most frequent items are a liquid leak and that the hood latches are not in place.  Anything you see that you need a 2nd opinion on, please ask! Read more...
