Classing

When choosing your class, you can elect to compete in any of the many established SCCA national classes where times are compared directly to other competitors in your class of similar vehicles
                                                                                                                                                                            -OR-
You can elect to compete in one of our local, or indexed classes (PAX, RTA, RTF, RTR, CPM, NOV & TO) that feature a wide variety of vehicles in each group.

In order to compare performance in index classes, a PAX, or predetermined multiplier, is applied to your time.  The PAX Index is built upon a large national database of SCCA autocross results. The goal of the PAX Index is to take the driver out of the equation and compare only the car’s performance potential. To determine you time for comparison, your vehicle’s PAX index is multiplied against your run time to determine your PAX time. By using this PAX Index, we are able to compare your times against other people who are driving cars that would normally be in other car classes.

Keeping that explanation in mind, when you register:

If you choose to compete in an established national class where you go head to head with you fellow competitors, you will choose the appropriate "class"  for your car from the first drop down window and select NONE in the second drop down window.

If you choose to compete in one of our indexed classes (PAX, RTA, RTF, RTR, CPM, NOV & TO) where a PAX multiplier is appied to your time, you will choose your "index class" in the first drop down window, and your PAX modifier (the national class that your car would normally compete) in the second drop down window.
