Please read the following notes and requirements prior to registering:

  • Please note - due to recent IRS actions, participation in the driving school, autocross car control clinic, or autocross event requires BMW Car Club of
America membership.  Associate members are welcome, as are guests of current members.  Participation as a volunteer does not require membership.  More information regarding membership ($48 a year, BMW ownership NOT required) is available at www.bmwcca.org/join.  Memberships are available as part of registration.
  • The "Flat Out" Classic - is comprised of multiple events over the same weekend all at the same location!  The entry fee for the events throughout the weekend vary - please see below for more information.
  • Ross Bentley Speed Secrets classes will take place Friday and Saturday.  Please carefully review the listings on the registration form and sign up quickly as space is limited for these offerings.  Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the Speed Secrets classes.
  • Cost for the high performance driving school is $379 - this includes 2-days of instruction, and all track sessions.  This is a two-day school; one-day registrations by pre-approval only.
  • Pre-Approved advanced students can participate in an extra day to improve their skills. Cost for this entry is $469 for three days.
  • Instructor entry fee is $150.
  • Want to run your car on Heartland's NHRA drag strip?  We'll be doing runs Saturday evening.
  • Looking to get a feel for what takes place in a high performance driving school?  We are pleased to offer the Taste of the Track for $75.  This includes attendance in all regular classroom sessions as well as a session riding with an instructor on track in the instructor's car.
  • Event Shirts are available for $25 each.
  • The event schedule will be announced shortly.  The high performance driving school will run Saturday and Sunday, with Friday available for pre-approved advanced students and instructors.
  • Garages are available for rent - cost is $150 for the entire weekend.  These can be split amongst your friends.  Garages are available on first-come, first-served basis and are limited in number.  Once they are gone, that's it - they are gone!
  • All cars can participate in low speed parade laps during the lunch hour on Saturday and Sunday.  An entry fee may be required - details will be made available at the track.
  • Spectators are welcome - no charge!
  • No charge for event volunteers!
  • All drivers must be at least 16 years of age for autocross events, and 18 years of age for track events.  All driving participants must possess a full, valid, non-suspended, and current state driver’s license. No previous experience necessary. We will have Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced run groups. Run groups are scheduled to receive multiple track sessions per day.
  • All makes and models of cars are welcome, provided they pass a pre-event safety inspection and a track side safety check. (Convertibles must have full roll bars, at least two five-point harnesses and must be approved in advance on a case-by-case basis.) All student cars must be licensed, insured, street-legal, and muffled. (Be prepared to provide proof of insurance.)
  • You must bring a Snell Foundation-rated M2010 or SA2010 (or newer) helmet. Students who do not have an approved helmet, or whose cars do not pass a track side safety check will not be allowed on the track and no refunds will be made. Autocross, Autocross school, and driving school participants all are required to have a helmet.  Loaner helmets are not available.
  • Registrants will be required to download an information packet.  At the track, all participants will receive classroom instruction, and on-track/course instruction.
  • You must download the detailed information packet that includes track information, lodging options, event manual, and technical inspection forms. Novices must also download the high-performance driving manual. The download is available at docs.flatoutclassic.com. If you have trouble downloading a document, e-mail registrar@flatoutclassic.com for assistance.
  • Cancellation/Refund Policy - PLEASE NOTE:
    • Refund/Cancellation Policy:

The organizing clubs incur significant cost and risk when scheduling events.  The club will be faced with many expenses even if participants cancel.  As a result, we have instituted the following policy.

Cancellations completed prior to 05/17/19 COB (1800 CDT) will not incur a fee.
Any cancellation after COB on 05/17/19 will have a 20% fee (rounded up to nearest whole dollar amount) applied to all cancellations.

Starting 05/24/19, no refunds will be allowed - only a credit toward a future event will be allowed.

      Thank you.

  • Each driver must register separately even if sharing a car. No more than two drivers per car. Shared cars may be required to run back-to-back track sessions
  • All participants, volunteers, and guests are required to sign an insurance company form waiving their rights to sue. A copy of the waiver is in the information packet. If you would like to read a copy prior to submitting this application, you may request one by contacting the Driving School Registrar.
  • If you have any medical condition that requires consideration under the Americans With Disabilities Act, please indicate that on the registration form.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions. We want to make sure this is a great experience for you.

BMW CCA driving schools are designed to teach drivers how to safely improve their driving abilities and explore their cars’ capabilities. Students, using their own cars, get one-on-one instruction from experienced instructors. Our overriding emphasis is on safety, and safely learning how to control the car in emergency and higher performance conditions. The school is conducted on a paved, closed, and controlled course to minimize risk to persons and equipment. This is not a racing school, practice or preparation for racing, and it is not a timed, competitive event or speed contest. Even though we try to minimize risk, there is an inherent risk of damage to your car and injury to yourself. Please be certain that you are willing to accept this risk before registering for the school.
