Q. Where is the track located?

A. Our premier go karting facility is found at 529 West Front Street in Sumas Washington, just a stone’s through form the Huntington/Sumas Border Crossing. The track is close to Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham and Lynden.  There are four airports nearby:

Seattle, WA - 113 miles

Vancouver, Canada - 50 miles

Bellingham, WA - 25 miles

Abbotsford, Canada - 7 miles

Traveling from Canada? Here are a few tips on getting to SIMA

1. Cross at Huntington/Sumas Border. It usually has the shortest line ups. Ensure you use the left lane as it eventually turns into three lanes.

2. The best time to cross is between 7-9am

Q. What should I wear?

A. SIMA will supply you with all the necessary safety gear required with the exception of race shoes. Please bring a pair of running shoes/sneakers. Shoes with thin soles are particularly great, as it will offer better pedal feel and further comfort while driving

Q. How long is the workshop?

A. The workshop will consist of a full 2 hours which we will email you prior to your visit.  You are advised to arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time. Please check in at the front desk of the showroom.

Q. Are there any restrictions?

A. You must be over 16 years old to take part in this workshop. Anyone who is under the age of 16 and interested in our youth workshops, please contact us for more information. Participants must also have driving experience of some sort and be healthy and fit to drive. The workshop is a beginners guide to high performance karting, therefore we have zero tolerance for any obnoxious and over aggressive driving. To avoid any damage to the kart or personal injury, drivers are expected to operate the karts in a safe and responsible manner.

Q. What happens if I damage the kart?

A: Participants are responsible to cover any and all damage incurred to the kart during the workshop. A damage waiver must be completed and a valid Visa/Mastercard imprint must be taken.

Q. I am an experienced rental kart driver and/or sedan racer but I do not have any experience in outdoor professional race karts. Will I notice much difference or need much time to adjust?

In most cases, these professional race karts are not like anything you have seen before. The X30 IAMEEngines have close to double the horsepower and the chassis weigh over 100lbs less than any rental kart, as professional karts use lightweight European racing frames. The other noticeable difference is that SIMAalso uses racing compound tires which provide much more grip. Additional, SIMA  is 3 times the length of most rental kart tracks, so you will be traveling at very high speeds down the straight away and through the corners!

Q: What happens if it is raining?

A: Unfortunately, the workshop would have to be rescheduled. Before heading out to the track, please check our Facebook page where we will post the current weather condition and status of the workshop. Alternatively, you could contact the coordinator Claudia at 604-308-4454 or email claudia@italianmotors.com
