Avenue of the Giants / Lost Coast tour. 

March 2 & 3th, Led by Lillie Echevarria

Ready for a scenic drive up Northern California to view the amazing redwood forest?  Our tour will depart from the Buttercup Bar & Grill (660 Ygnacio Valley Blvd, Walnut Creek) at 7 a.m.  As we leave the congested city, we will emerge into the countryside for some famous sightseeing spots and photo opportunities.

We will drive the entire ” Avenue of the Giants” featuring an amazing display of Redwood trees– many over 900 years old –on a scenic route!  Our first day will end at “The Scotia Inn” in Scotia.

On Sunday, after breakfast, we will make our way up to Ferndale and start the famous or perhaps infamous “Lost Coast “ drive through the alpine forest  and a breath-taking descent to the ocean.  Our drive will continue along the Mattole river and Humboldt State Park.  We will enjoy lunch at the historic “Benbow Inn” resort in Benbow.

Saturday March 2nd

·         Chandelier Drive-thru tree - $5 fee payable at location

·         Lunch at Riverwood Inn - $20 – fixed-price menu; selection/pymt at MSRG

• Food choices for Riverwood Inn - Saturday March 2nd:
  - Special Burrito:  Filled with beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion and carne asada (steak)
  - Two chicken enchiladas with rice and beans
  - Taco salad with chile verde (pork)
  Choice of ice tea, Coke or Sprite + chips and salsa.  Tax & tip included

·         Lodging at The Scotia Inn, 100 Main St, Scotia.  We have a block of rooms reserved at 20% discount from their winter rates.  There are an array of room configurations ($80-150),  please call them directly to book your room and let them know you are with Diablo PCA by no later than February 22nd.   Continental Breakfast Included.  Website =  http://www.scotia-inn.com      Phone - (707) 764-5338.

Sunday, March 3^rd   

Lunch at Benbow Inn - $20 – fixed-price menu; selection/pymt at MSRG

• Food choices for Benbow Inn - Sunday  March 3rd:
  - Hearts of Romaine Caesar Salad (A large lunch salad with Crostini, shaved asiago cheese, white anchovy filet and parmesan crisp - our dressing is made in the traditional style with raw egg yolks)  Served with or without Grilled Chicken
  - Grilled Chicken Sandwich - white applewood smoked bacon and provolone on a hoagie roll with lettuce and tomato served with french fries
  - French Dip - thinly sliced prime rib sauteed with wild mushrooms, red onions and provolone on a sourdough baguette with Au Jus served with french fries.
  Choice of ice tea, soda.  Tax & tip included
