Form Branches

A Branch may be added directly to the form layout. Any items nested immediately beneath the Branch will be hidden behind a checkbox when the registration form is loaded. Upon checking the box, the nested items are revealed to the user. The purpose is to clean up long or complicated registration forms and to hide unrelated elements.

Form Branches have the same options as any other form layout object such as date and visibility controls and also include a label that will be displayed next to the checkbox.

You can identify a Branch in the form layout by the following icon: Branches

Adding Branches

To add a Branch to the form, click the wrench at the top ( ) and choose Add New and then Branch. The Branch will be added to the very bottom of the registration form.

Drag it to your desired position in the form layout. Then add or drag and drop items on top of the Branch like in the following image:

The green plus icon indicates it will be nested as a child. Release the element and it will appear indented under the Branch. It will now be hidden behind a check box when the user loads the registration form.

In this example, a club race is using two top-level branches; one each for workers and racers:

Since few participants will be both workers and racers, this use of branches will hide the worker options from racers and vice versa leading to a simpler, more usable registration form.

When checking either of the Branches, the nested elements are revealed:

A branch does not prevent the user from selecting both options! Use a Group for that functionality.
