Join us for a weekend in beautiful middle Georgia on April 5-7/2019. We’ll begin our weekend by meeting at the famous Hills and Dales Estate in Historic LaGrange on Friday April 5th. We’ll have a private tour of the famous Bo Callaway estate, gardens and green house beginning at 11am. You should plan to arrive in LaGrange no later than 10:30 am so we can assemble for the tour at 11. Hills and Dales is located in LaGrange at 1916 Hills and Dales Dr, LaGrange, GA 30240.
Hills and Dales estate was the family home built for textile magnate Fuller E. Callaway (Yes, this is the same Callaway family associated with Callaway Gardens) and his wife Ida Cason Callaway. Completed in 1916 in LaGrange, Georgia; the property includes the pre-Civil War Ferrell Gardens started by Nancy Ferrell in 1832 and expanded by her daughter Sarah Coleman Ferrell beginning in 1841.
After our tour we’ll have lunch at Venucci, a local and popular Italian restaurant located at 129 Main St, LaGrange, GA 30240. http://venuccis.com/venucci.htm .
After lunch we’ll tour another famous LaGrange estate, Bellevue.
Bellevue is a Greek Revival mansion that was built 1853 to 1855 by Benjamin Harvey Hill for his wife, Caroline Holt Hill. Senator Hill served in the Georgia Legislature, Confederate Congress, and U.S. House and Senate. He was arrested at Bellevue in May 1865 along with Stephen Mallory, Secretary of the Confederate Navy.

The stately antebellum home, located in the heart of LaGrange, Georgia, at 204 Ben Hill Street, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service, U.S. Department of the Interior.
From LaGrange we’ll drive to Warm Springs. A block of Rooms has been reserved at the Meriwether Country Inn 5675 Spring St, Warm Springs, GA 31830. The MBCA rate is $65.00 per night. Reserve your room directly with the hotel by calling 706-655-9099. You must book no later than March 23rd.
Dinner will be on your own Friday night if you want to go out to eat. There are several local eateries in town. Keep in mind that we are having a group dinner at the famous Bulloch House on Saturday, so you may chose to forego eating there on Friday night.
On Saturday you can visit the Little White House, FDR’s Georgia residence and the famous Warm Spring pool where he swam. You can also have a wine tasting at the Warm Springs Winery, 7227 Roosevelt Hwy, Warm Springs, GA.
If you choose to do so you can take a short 15-mile drive to the world famous Callaway Gardens in nearby Pine Mountain.
We’ll have a group dinner at the Bulloch House right in downtown Warm Springs on Saturday night.
On Sunday, everyone can head home and reminisce on the weekend.
