YOU ARE INVITED to join us January 16th and 17th 2016 for the “University of VARA”. The two day school will once again be held at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. The curriculum will include classroom sessions, skid pad, braking, and lots of track time. There will be levels of instruction from beginner to veteran with expert instruction from Danny McKeever, his “Fast Lane” crew and many of VARA’s top drivers.
NOW IS THE TIME! If you would like to see what vintage racing is all about, or have a friend or neighbor that has always wanted to give it a try, please pass along the information. THIS MAKES A GREAT HOLIDAY GIFT! A perfect opportunity to share your passion for the sport of Vintage Racing. This event is not a race, it is a school. Remember the University of VARA counts as two weekends toward your VARA competition racing license. This License is recognized by all major racing YOU ARE INVITED to join us January 16th and 17th 2016 for the “University of VARA”. This school is open to both street cars and race cars. Though the licensing program is only available to Race prepped cars, both will enjoy professional instruction with lots of track time and one on one in car instruction. Don’t have a race car? You can rent a Toyota pro-celebrity race car (used in the Long Beach grand prix) for less than you may think. SIGN UP EARLY. The University can only accept a limited number of entries. In the past we’ve always ended up with a waiting list. The entry fee is only $375.00 which includes a weekend membership before Oct 31. 2015 for early sign ups, Nov 1, 2015 price increases to $395.00.
We welcome you to join VARA for a membership fee of only $135. This entitles you to all VARA’s racing event information. A Physical exam is not required for the University. You can join VARA right on the University Entry Form.
Registration and Tech will be at the track Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. All cars must be teched including street cars.
Buttonwillow Racetrack is 90 miles from LAX Airport , Event Motel Motel 6 Central (661) 764-5121, Camping is permitted at the track. Hookup information please contact Buttonwillow Raceway Park at (661) 764-5333.
Entrants will receive an acceptance package approximately 10 days before the event. If you have questions regarding this event, do not hesitate to contact the VARA office at (800) 280-8272
Event requirements
Drivers will need at MINIMUM to participate:
1) SNELL 2005 or newer Rated helmets - M Rated OK in Street Car only!
2) Long Sleeve - Long Pants - and Gloves required in all Street Cars for all ontrack sessions and excersises.
3) Convertibles allowed with a Roll bar installed and seat belts. FACTORY AUTO ROLL OVER BARS not accepted.
4) Seat belts required in all cars
5) Race prepared cars require all current Safety requirements in the VARA Rules. Please find those requirements at the follwing link. ---> VARA Car Prep rules
All cars must pass Technical Inspection.
Sharing of cars is not recommended since conflicts in schedules will occur.
Please try to Enter Early to Guarantee your U oV Shirt Size! Cut off will be Jan 4, 2016. There will be some extra shirts avaiable.
