Turkeys in the Trunk 2020

Checkered Flag and Euroclassics

About this event

This event is still on, but due to more restrictive COVID guidelines as of 15 Nov for Virginia, we'll be modifying the way this event will be conducted to ensure no gathering and to comply with ammended Executive Order 67.  Specifics will be emailed to attendees.

We are also maxed out at the restaurants in Virginia Beach, so if you sign up, you'll be added to the waiting list for the dinner.  Please don't let that stop you from bringing food to the dealership or donating a check.

Procedures for the Richmond area event will also be adjusted, but it's otherwise on track.

Summer has finally retreated, hurricane season is past and Christmas decorations are on display at Wal-Mart (okay... they've actually been there since well before Halloween). It must be time for

Turkeys in the Trunk!!!

Please join us for a Saturday of fun and camaraderie at First Settlers Region's 11th annual Turkeys in the Trunk charity event at Checkered Flag Porsche in Virginia Beach and our joint event with Shenandoah Region at Euroclassics Porsche in Midlothian on 21 November 2020. Help us reach our $20,000 goal!

Sorry, the sweatshirt order is closed.  NEW THIS YEAR:  We're ordering Turkeys-in-the-Trunk sweatshirts.  They're gray with a cool Turkeys graphic on the back and go for $25 each.  They will be ready for pickup at Euroclassics and Checkered Flag the day of the event, but only if you order by Friday, 13 November.  After that, the order will close, so don't delay!  You can order sweatshirts (We also have limited quantities of FSR masks and grille badges available for order and pickup at each dealership) on the registration page where you sign up for the event.

Please read on:

This is a multi-region, multi-location event. First Settlers and Shenandoah Regions will be joining forces again to help our neighbors in need this Thanksgiving season. We want you to be as confortable as possible while still supporting this very important charity event. You can just join us at the dealership and even stay in your car and enjoy the excitement of the food drop offs if you choose. It's all about the donations!

In Virginia Beach
,  we'll be supporting the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore in their effort to collect food for the Thanksgiving season at their Mayflower Marathon food drive, a weekend long effort to fill as many big rigs as possible with donated food for distribution to less fortunate local families.

In Richmond, we'll be supporting
the Greater Richmond Foodbank via "Feed More", Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization dedicated to providing neighbors in need with healthy meals.  They'll have a freezer truck on site at Euroclassics Porsche to collect our donations. As always, you can always make monetary donations at the event.

**Turkeys in the Trunk in Virginia Beach:  Load your front trunk, your back trunk, roof rack, passenger foot well.... wherever, with frozen turkeys, canned vegetables, yams, and the rest of the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.  Don’t forget to leave room for your spouse, but tell them to pack lightly!

Then head over to Checkered Flag Porsche (2865 Virginia Beach Blvd) for the start of the day. Pull into the service bay and our FSR crew will unload your donations, weigh them, then reload them back into your car.  Whoever brings the most food, by weight, will win a Porsche prize donated by the dealership.  The weigh-in will be from 1:00 to 1:45PM.  PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE BEFORE 1PM, as their service department is open on Saturday until 1PM.

After the weigh-in, we’ll drive to Pembroke Mall to offload our food donations at the Mayflower Marathon food drive.  Arrival of First Settlers is one of the highlights of the entire weekend for the Marathon.  There's no local car club that even comes close to our level of donations.  If you're making a monetary donation, please make your check out to the Foodbank of Southeastern VA.

Next, we'll head over to Blue Pete's Restaurant in southern Virginia Beach (1400 North Muddy Creek Rd) for an early dinner, compliments of the club and no-host cocktails. We'll even provide a fun route for you to get there from the Mayflower Marathon.

**Turkeys in the Trunk in Richmond Load up your frunk, trunk, passenger seat... whatever space you have, and head to Euroclassics Porsche in Midlothian (11900 Midlothian Turnpike) by 11:00AM.  Coffee and soft drinks will be provided.  We'll hang out for an hour, enjoy some PCA comradery and check out Euroclassics' offerings.  Whoever brings the most food, by weight, will win a prize donated by the dealership.

After we've loaded our donations into the Foodbank's freezer truck at the dealership, we'll head out on a fun run at 12PM to Mission BBQ in Midlothian (12630 Stone Village Way) for lunch, courtesy of Shenandoah and First Settlers.  Should you decide to make a monetary donation, please make your check out to "Feed More".  We'll be collecting those at the dealership as well.

The best part of these events is giving back to the community, driving our favorite cars and finishing the day socializing with great friends!  Hope to see you there!

Note:  To register for either the Virginia Beach or Richmond event, hit the "Continue" button at the bottom of this page.  After a second "Continue" button on the next page, you will be taken to the registration page.  There, you will have a choice to sign up for either Turkeys in the Trunk in Richmond, or Turkeys in the Trunk in Virginia Beach.  Please check the box next to the event you'd like to attend and a dropdown menu will prompt you to sign up for each portion of that particular event (i.e. the dealership portion and the follow-on lunch/evening social).

Can't attend?   We understand that some of you are not comfortable yet with larger gatherings; we want to assure you that we will be following state and PCA COVID regulations at the dealerships and restaurants. Should you decide not to attend, you can still support the event by mailing a donation check to Josie Grandfield, 2581 Eagles Lake Rd, Virginia Beach, VA  23456. Please make it out to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia for the southside or Feed More for the Richmond area. Your donation will be added to our gift for both Food Banks.

Please note:  The goal of this donation effort is to collect frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items and monetary donations.  Ideally, the food donated at the event can be turned into a fairly typical Thanksgiving meal for a person or family in need. The donated food is packed in boxes by volunteers for distribution before Thanksgiving.  So, please consider this when you decide what to donate.  Cash donations are also accepted at this event and you should make your check out directly to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia or Feedmore.  These donations are also reflected in FSR's and Shenandoah's total charity proceeds.
