Turkeys in the Frunk

Richmond VA

About this event

Turkeys in the Frunk: Two Opportunities to Share the Holiday Spirit and Give Back to the Communities in our Porsche Club of America Region!!!

The air is finally getting chilly; we’re starting to rake leaves and as the Holiday Season approaches, please make plans to join fellow Shenandoah Region members for our second annual "Turkeys in the Frunk" event on Saturday, November 18, 2017.  PCA members, friends and acquaintances are encouraged to participate.  This is all about giving back to our communities!!!

For those of you who haven’t been to “Turkeys in the Frunk”, this is how it works:  First, you load (or any quantity you feel appropriate) your front trunk (frunk), or your back trunk, if you have one, your roof rack, your passenger foot well....  or wherever, with frozen turkeys, canned vegetables, yams, non-perishable food and the rest of the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal.  Don’t forget to leave room for your spouse or significant other, but tell them to pack lightly!

Last year was our first effort.  There were only seven Porsches and we donated over 350 pounds of turkey, 400 pounds of non-perishable food and more than $800 in checks.  That monetary donation alone allowed the Blue Ridge Food Bank to buy $6,000 worth of food!  It sure would be great if we could triple our donations this year!  Come on out and support a wonderful cause, enjoy the camaraderie of fellow Porsche owners, renew old acquaintances and even make some new friends.

This will be a multi-Region event in conjunction with First Settler Region.  We will use Motorsportreg for registration to get an accurate headcount of the participants for planning and logistics.  There will be separate registration in Motorsportreg for members in the central/western locations and eastern locations in the Shenandoah Region.  Both locations will hold their respective events on November 18th.

Please select the location closest for you to participate.

In the western/central portion of the Region, we will meet at Porsche of Charlottesville (Flow Porsche) and will be supporting the Blue Ridge Food Bank, a member of Feeding America.  We will be driving from Flow Porsche to deliver the donations to the Blue Ridge Food Bank branch at 1207 Harris Street, Charlottesville (map).

In the eastern portion of the Region, we will meet at Euroclassics Porsche (Euroclassics) and be supporting the Greater Richmond Food Bank (aka Feedmore), Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization dedicated to providing neighbors in need with healthy meals along with Richmond area members of First Settlers Region.  Feedmore will have a refrigerated truck on site to collect our donations.

There will not be a drive to their location.  For financial donations. please make checks payable to “Feedmore”.

After the donations have been made, those participants who want to have a late, light lunch, are invited to meet across Midlothian Turnpike at Wegman’s Pub.  All contributors will receive a luncheon voucher good until 2:00 pm.  If you wish to enjoy one another’s company over lunch, come as close to 1:00 as you can.
