About this event
First Settlers Region is proud to announce the beginning of our relationship with Horizons Hampton Roads!
Please join us on a visit to the summer program on Friday, July 24th at their Portsmouth site. The address is Portsmouth Catholic Regional School, 2301 Oregon Avenue, Portsmouth. The event will start at 12:30PM and finish at 1:30PM.
We will plan to meet for lunch about 11:30AM at a location to be determined. Then we will drive together to the Horizons facility. We realize this event is on a Friday but that’s when the program is in session. This will be a great opportunity to meet some of the kids and the Horizon Staff to get a better appreciation for the program and its positive impact. We hope to see you there!!
Your registration options are either 1) tour or 2) lunch/tour. Lunch will be pay-as-you-go.
Horizons Hampton Roads is a 6-week summer educational enrichment program for low-income K-8 grade public school students in Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach. The first Horizons program was created over 40 years ago as a way to help children of poverty improve their education and break the cycle of poverty. There are many obvious negative aspects to poverty, but the cycle is difficult to break. The mission of Horizons is the break that cycle and help these kids close the achievement gap and get on a path to success. With Horizons Hampton Roads as one of First Settlers Regions sponsored charities we will be part of the solution!!
