About this event

NEQ 2014 Thompson Speedway Driver School and Safety Seminar

September 8th and 9th 2014

The cost of this event is $475.

Please join us for Audi Club NEQ Chapter's premiere event at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park scheduled for September 8th and 9th, 2014!

Located in beautiful Northeast Connecticut, Thompson began a complete renovation and repaving of their 1950's era track in mid-2013. Anticipated to be completed in June for the 2014 DE season, Thompson shall likely prove to be a new favorite for DE enthusiasts throughout New England.

Thompson is easily accessible from RT395 and is 50 miles from Hartford, 170 from Manhattan and 65 miles from Boston.

The road course track features a 1.7 mile ribbon of 38 foot wide new asphalt, 12 corners with new curbing, and enhanced run-off areas. Additionally, Thompson has added new garages, classroom and pit facilities, and an autocross/skid pad, which we will use for novice exercises. Originally opened in 1940 and owned by the same family since, Thompson also includes a 5/8 mile oval, golf course and conference facilities.

Like other NEQ DE events, our premiere Thompson event will be open to 1st time DE participants, novices, intermediates and advanced students alike; indeed all of us will be driving Thompson for the first time!

Typically each run group will enjoy 4 sessions per day on the track, with Novice and Intermediate students assigned a dedicated NEQ instructor. Classroom sessions taught by senior Instructors will also be provided for all run groups and novices will additionally enjoy a set of car control exercises on the morning of day one.

We will hold a banquet Monday evening (post the first day) at a local establishment. A great opportunity to socialize with your fellow DE drivers and instructors the banquet will, as per usual, feature great food, a raffle with covetable prizes, a 50/50 give-away, and lots of laughs.

NEQ does not require that you drive an Audi (provided compliance with our general car guidelines which are covered on the NEQ website here) but membership in Audi Club North America is required. To join or update your membership, please go to the ACNA website and click on "Join ACNA" at the top of the page.

Registration for NEQ's premiere event at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park will open on February 3, 2014 and we anticipate heavy interest in this event so plan to sign-up early as slots in each run group shall be limited.

Registration and Tech inspection will take place on Sunday evening, September 7th, from 3pm until 6pm. While this is the preferred option, Tech will also be open Monday morning at the track but timing will be critical, so come Sunday afternoon, relax, check out the other cars and meet your fellow drivers.

The cost for this event is $475 per student.

This is a new event on the NEQ calendar and you can be amongst the first DE drivers to test and hone your skills at the new Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park road course. We hope to see you there!

Tech pre-Inspection

Well in advance of any on-track driving event, you'll need to get your car pre-inspected by a competent mechanic, who will have to provide a completed and signed copy of the Safety Inspection Checklist form (first page only) for you to bring with you to registration. Please get your car inspected at least two weeks before the event to avoid disappointment if the inspection uncovers repairs that must be completed before the car will pass.

The Northeast Region Quattro Club recognizes several Audi-VW tuners and service centers. They are NEQ supporters with years of experience and scores of satisfied customers. As a benefit for NEQ members they will provide free tech pre-inspection for applicants of our schools. Bring your Safety Inspection Checklist form. After inspection they will sign your form to be sure you are eligible for our event. Naturally there will be a charge for any parts or labor that are additionally required to prepare your vehicle. Two of these sites are APR distributors. They are all participants of our events with much experience in regard to car preparation and advice for upgrades. You will also be happy with the services of any Audi dealership but may utilize another dealership or full-time automotive repair shop at whatever rate you agree to . Be sure to call for appointments well in advance of an event.
