About this event
Due to the soaring success of our previous TARGA Driving Events and Track Days, we're back. Come drive your car in a controlled environment. Driving on track removes the variables of spirited driving on public roads. Without having to worry about pedestrians, law enforcement, and wildlife (aside from an occasional rattlesnake), we get to focus driving. Our track days are made to explore our car's handling capabilities, acceleration and braking thresholds, and driving skill, in a safe environment; more appropriately, in a FUN environment.
Gates open at 7:00 a.m. and gates close at 6:00 p.m. After registration, we hold a track orientation and introduction for those new to ORP. This also includs driving laps around the track with a lead car to better understand the layout. Bill, at ORP, is an amazing resource and though you may have driven the track numerous times, he's always good for a couple pearls of wisdom. Following the drivers meeting, the track goes live.
Sunday September 26, 2021: All abilities are welcome! We split the drivers into three run groups. Groups run 20 minutes sessions from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and with an open track the last hour until 5:00 p.m. There is an hour break midday where track goes cold. You are welcome to camp/trailer and arrive the night prior with approval (dry camping only).
Drivers will be placed into three categories:
Novice - 0-2 Track Days Experience: The Novice's focus will be getting familiar with driving and etiquette on track. There will be parameters to ensure safety, including limited passing area by point-by only. We try to keep this as comfortable as possible for new drivers.
Intermediate - 3-9 Track Days Experience: This group's focus will be improving fluidity of driving, improved lines on track, and the like.
Advanced - 10+ Track Days Experience: This group works on fine-tuning, and improved lap times/lines.
Instruction: Targa offers private instruction. Our professional driving instructors are recommended to us, and certified by ORP. Add this to your track day to provide personal training, and in-depth track knowledge.
Driven on track but never been to ORP? Or, feel like you need to touch up your skills? A One Run Session of instruction is a great fit. One Run Session instruction will be scheduled on a first come first serve basis. Available Sunday only.
Never been on track before? Want to maximize personal driving development through the course of the day? Achieve that through an instructor for one Full Day. Available Sunday or Monday.
