The leaves are falling from the trees and dusk comes early by mid-November, but we’re still going to try to squeeze in a short tour or two before we bring the 2019 driving season to a close. There is nothing we can do about the plummeting temperatures of late November. Perhaps we can help take the edge o the chill with a unique destination - one of only a handful of single-source distilleries in the United States. How about joining us for a road tour, distillery tour and a tasting of the award winning products of Stumpy’s Spirits? (In the interest of full disclosure, and before you ask, the owners are distant relatives of your Editor. The owners of Stumpy’s Spirits are what genealogists refer to as 3rd cousins of the editor.)

Stumpy’s Spirits is a rather unique distillery in that nearly everything used to make the Stumpy’s Spirits bourbon, whisky and vodka comes from the farm surrounding the distillery production facility and tasting room just outside Columbia, Illinois. The distillery owners are the 8th generation farmers of the land where the distillery is located. All the corn...wheat...barley...and rye used in the Stumpy’s products are planted, harvested, milled, mashed, fermented and distilled on site. Even the water used in the liquors comes from a deep well on the farm. Only a few natural avorings from local sources, such as the peaches from Eckert’s used in the Stumpy’s Unbroken Peach Vodka, make their way into Stumpy’s products.

Join us for a brief tour over the very winding roads along the blues of Monroe County ending at the Stumpy’s Spirits production facility and tasting room. We’ll be gathering on the Home Depot parking lot just west of Hooter’s South County at 7481 South Lindbergh - on the northeast corner of the intersection of South Lindbergh and Lemay Ferry. There will be a brief driver’s meeting at 1 pm before hitting the road at about 1:20. We’ll wind our way along the edge of the blu s before making a brief rest stop at Waterloo, and then on to Stumpy’s Spirits for a tour of the production facility and an opportunity to sample some of Stumpy’s unique products, including their seasonal holiday specialties. You might even nd some holiday gifts at the Stumpy’s Spirits gift shop.

Warning - the last 1/4 mile drive to the Stumpy’s facility is a gravel drive, so you are welcome to bring your daily driver if dust or a potential stone chip is a concern. Reserve your place on the tour and the tasting before November 15th. We hope you can join us!
