This year’s spring tour is a “can’t miss” event that will provide participants with a route over some of the state’s premier sports car roads to Galena, IL. This will be the first Badger spring tour offered with an overnight stay option at the Irish Cottage Inn in Galena. The tour is scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of May.
The first stage of the tour will start outside of Verona, WI at 10:45 am allowing participants to start their day’s travel from various areas of the state. There we will collect signatures on our waiver form from all participants, provide a briefing on the day’s activities and have a chance to fill our cars up at the Kwik Stop station.
An hour travel time will bring us into Mineral Point. There our lunch will be hosted by the staff at MP Dining Co. in Mineral Point on a special opening for the Badger Bimmer group. Menu items for our group consist of their Sirloin Burger on ciabatta bread with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, served with small green salad, French fries and dill pickle, or a Portobello-Grilled Swiss Cheese Sandwich; served with small green salad, French fries and dill pickle, or their Farmstand Salad; mixed greens and seasonal vegetables tossed with sherry vinaigrette, topped with sautéed chicken breast. Beverage options include Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Iced tea, and hot coffee. Price is $12.50, tax and tip not included.
After lunch we start stage two; a 1hr 30min westerly trek to Lancaster and down to Dickeyville, WI for a visit to the Church of the Holy Ghost Grotto for a tour of the grounds. There are no fees.
From Dickeyville we will start on our third and final stage of the tour to Galena, IL. This stage is about a 1/2hr run into town and to our hotel, The Irish Cottage Inn. For those wishing to stay we’ll have some time to check in prior to an optional ½hr trolley tour of the city. Upon return from the tour Heidi and I will be hosting a reception for the tour group in the Dubliner Lounge.
Dinner will be held for our group in town at Vinny Vanucchi’s Restaurant in their Bistro Room. We are estimating a $19.95 dinner menu with selected menu items for our group. Drinks will be extra. The menu will follow. Parking downtown is difficult so we will provide a shuttle bus for the trip to and from the restaurant back to our hotel.
Boutique stores in town are open on Sunday morning for those that wish to shop or lunch before their return trip home.
