Snake Charmer Road Rally

Municipality of Anchorage

About this event

Snake Charmer Road Rally

The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will be sanctioning the first event of the 2019 Road Rally Series on Saturday, March 16th. The Snake Charmer Road Rally is a great way to spend a Saturday morning and early afternoon — social time at Kendall Audi of Anchorage, a road rally, and then more social time with fellow rallyists and motorsport enthusiasts at our final destinaton Culmination Motorsports, and Fire Island Rustic Bake Shop. Head over to www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com today or our webpage www.alaskascca.org, and you'll find information on our upcoming rally cross, road rally, and autocross events as they are sanctioned by SCCA.

We are looking for Rallymasters to step up to take on the responsibility of putting together challenging, clean and creative Road Rallies for the upcoming Series! We want to know that rallyists are planning to attend and looking forward to competing on their rallies. We look forward to having you rally with us and encourage you to register online today!

Terrance Pearson will be the Rallymaster for the Snake Charmer Road Rally and Becky Pearson will serve as the Road Rally Safety Steward. You'll be traveling familiar roads along the Turnagain Arm, using route instructions designed to rid the arm of those pesky serpents all the while looking for evidence that they have been banished.  This is a Games Touring Adventure (GTA) road rally and it will cover approximately 100 miles.  Along the route, teams will be required to follow route instructions, maintain speeds for short distances and accurately place images given to them in order of thre route of travel.  The team with the most images in order will win the rally.

Please do not wait until the last minute — show your interest to our Rallymasters! From the great success of our last Road Rally and wanting to maintain a quality event, we will have a 20 Car Team Cap

The starting location for The Snake Charmer Road Rally will be Kendall Audi of Anchorage located at 6115 Old Seward Highway, Anchorage AK 99518. With online registration for your team we can expedite the time needed rally morning.

Saturday morning, starting at 8:00 AM, teams will check in, sign waivers, have a vehicle inspection (if your vehicle is roadworthy - you should be good-to-go!) and we'll have the Driver's Meeting at 9:30AM. Please arrive on time, as we'll want to get you down the road with first car out at 10:00AM.

So that you may plan your afternoon, the rally will finish at Culmination Motorsports and Fire Island Rustic Bake Shop located at 160 W 91st AVE, Anchorage, AK 99515 and should be wrapped-up with rallying and learning of the finishing scores by 2:00PM.  You can then hang out and enjoy the great food and chat with the team at Culmination Motorsports, Alaska's Premier German Vintage Werks.  I also hear there may be some cool give-aways!

Don't have a dedicated rally partner? No worries—we are encouraging folks to arrive and form teams at the starting location! Register up so folks know you're looking for a rally partner.  You can always feel free to join and ask for a partner on our Facebook group Arctic Alaska SCCA.

Event requirements

REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
We encourage all of you planning to enter this event to register here at http://www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com. One of your team will need to register the vehicle and their position on the team (Driver or Navigator) and the other will need to register their position on the team and personal information only. The entry fee for the Snake Charmer Road Rally is $15 per team member, with members of our sanctioning body, the Sports Car Club of America, receiving a $5.00 discount. Please pay online or bring a check for payment at the event. Of course cash is also acceptable payment at the event.

Due to the nature of the motorsport known as Road Rally, Rallymasters must have ample copies of the Route Instructions and  other supporting material prepared in advance of the event; there are no copiers along the highway! This is why we need your registration here and we will keep online registration open until 12:00P on Friday March 15th. Registration will also be open between 8:00-9:00A on Saturday up to the 20 team cap — yet we can not stress enough the importance of registering online to make sure there is a copy of the routes for your team.
