SCCA Pearson Auto August 2016 Solo Weekend

Carlson Center

About this event

The Arctic Alaska Region, of the Sports Car Club of America, will be sanctioning the Pearson Auto August 2016 Solo Weekend over August 19th-21st, 2016. We are eager to share the motorsport of autocross, which SCCA calls Solo, with our fellow Alaskans. The Region has sanctioned events at Nenana Airport in the mid-2000's and in 2015 had the successful SCCA Stanley NISSAN Weekend, the first autocross event in Fairbanks in over 38 years. This is not a drifting event, yet a driving competition through a course laid out with pylons (traffic cones) giving each entrant a minumum of four runs each day for their best scored time.

Thank you to Pearson Auto, our 2016 SCCA Alaska Autocross State Championship sponsor, who is excited about the opportunity to provide some driving opportunities for motorsport enthusiasts from South Central Alaska to Fairbanks, and helpful to the Region as well. We are delighted to be returning to the Carlson Center and working with the Staff, who have been accommodating and the contracts are signed.

Lunches on both days will be provided by Pearson Auto, and we'll be sharing those details as they come along to us.

Schedule for Saturday and Sunday Morning

7:00AM - Solo Team Arrival
8:00-8:30 AM  — Onsite Registration Open

8:15 AM — Tech Inspection Opens & 9:15AM Safety Steward Meeting with Drivers

All competitors will need to come by the Registration Table upon arrival — both those who registered online and those who choose to register at the event either morning. We have set a cap on registration, so don't delay in Registering at www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com straight away; you can come back the week of the event to make payment, so no worries of funds tied-up all summer!

Note that Registration is only open for 30-minutes the morning of the event. Please arrive early to allow time to settle your gear, prepare your car, and get through Tech Inspection before the Walk-Thru. Remember, all loose items will need to be out of your car and your battery will need to be solidly secured—no bungee cords!

Our Driver's Meeting will include a brief talk by the Safety Steward and the Solo Team will cover the responsibilities each of you will have while working corners during your "work group"! This event is a go—rain or shine—and as you'll be working opposite your "run group" please bring hats, layers for body warmth, sunblock, and foot wear for the elements.

Water will be provided by the Region.

Don't forget your valid Driver's License!

Event requirements

REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
All competitors are encouraged to pre-register (versus "event morning" registration) at the official online registration site: www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com for the August 19th-21st Pearson Auto August 2016 Solo Weekend of events. There is a entry-cap on the event, and pre-registration helps us establish run-groups and the sponsor plan for lunch as well!!

Entry fees are $30 for SCCA Members each day! SCCA offers a Weekend Membership, for those new to the sport, of $15 which will be on top of the $30 entry fee. A Weekend Membership fee makes you an SCCA Weekend Member and will give you a $15 discount towards a full SCCA membership, a copy of SportsCar (our national magazine), and is valid for all SCCA-sanctioned events held during that weekend.
