Santa Clara Corvettes -- CowVette Auto-X

Cow Palace

About this event

This is the registration page for a Santa Clara Corvette (SCC) autocross.  SCC is hosting its next day of autocross at the Cow Palace on Oct 17.  This one is different in two ways:  1) we are striving to limit it to Corvettes only, and 2) participants will run in the AM and PM.  All registration will occur on MotorsportReg, and registration will close when the event is full, or on Oct 15, whichever comes first.  There will be no walk-up registration at the event.  (SCC reserves the option of opening registration to all cars if we cannot fill the event with Corvettes.  This will occur about Oct 10th, if it does happen.

SCC was created in 1975 and has been offering a variety of activities for Corvette enthusiasts in the SF Bay Area for over 40 years.  While this will be a Western States Corvette Council (WSCC) competition, non-WSCC Corvettes are welcome and will be included in the results.  You can see how you did against all of the drivers there that day.

We strive to give at least 10 runs to all entrants, 5 in the AM, 5 more in the PM.  If we have extra time, you can run even more runs (no additional charge).

Come on out and join us for some good old CowVette competition.  (Don't forget to register for one AM session and one PM session.  Your class in the PM should be "2nd."  Your car number should get an "A" added to it in the PM.)

COVID -- In these strange times, SCC will be doing several things to mitigate risk from the virus.  People will be REQUIRED to wear a mask when not in their car.  We ask people to observe safe distancing (6 ft).  We will strive to eliminate as many touch points as we can.  We will be cleaning shared elements frequently and will have cleaning supplies on hand for use by participants.  Our complete "COVID guidelines" document will be e-mailed out about a week ahead.  Please read before coming to this event and help us keep everyone safe by complying with directions.

Event requirements

You will be asked to e-sign a waiver prior to the event, using SpeedWaiver.com.  You must have a valid driver's license to compete.  If you are less than 18 years old, you may still compete or ride along, but you must have a Minor Waiver filled out and signed by a parent or guardian (available at the registration table).  A helmet certified SNELL SA 2005 (or newer) is required for all drivers and passengers.  Motorcycle helmets (M rated) not allowed.  We will be offering a small number of loaner helmets for this event, by reservation only.  Most any car in good condition can be autocrossed.  No prior experience is needed.  We offer coaches to provide guidance if requested, but we cannot do any in-car coaching because of the COVID rules.

There will be two run groups -- RG-1 and RG-2.  If you drive in RG-1, you will work in RG-2, and vice versa.  After lunch, we will repeat, with both run groups getting another set of runs.  We require you to work in one Run Group for each one you drive.  Work can involve the work stations on course, timing table, grid, starter, etc.    When you register, you should sign up for an AM and a PM session.

We used to hold Drivers' Meetings prior to running.  Now, as another COVID precaution, we have done away with them.  Instead we will e-mail you a virtual drivers' meeting ahead of time -- everything you need to know in text.  As with the COVID document, you will need to read it ahead of time.  Course workers will wear bright yellow vests, which we provide.  These are disposable vests, which you are free to keep or dispose of.  If you have one from an earlier event, bring it with you.
