Road Rally in Paradise
The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will be sanctioning the first event of the 2016 Summer Road Rally Series on Wednesday, July 6th. The Road Rally in Paradise is also a part of the Chugiak-Eagle River Bear Paw Festival, of which there has been a road rally since 1986! A road rally has a team of a Driver and Navigator, travels public roads, and following the printed instruction they encounter checkpoints which count in scoring. It is not a race! Any team receiving a moving violation from law enforcement will be disqualified.
Cheryl Lynn will be the Rallymaster for the Road Rally in Paradise. You'll be traveling very familiar roads in the Chugiak-Eagle River area and enjoying the scenic views along the way. The Road Rally Safety Steward for the event will be Bill Demming.
Given the generous volunteer hours needed to go into our events — from the pre-check workers time, Rallymaster re-check calcs/printing, and rally expenses—we need your registrations as soon as you know you'll be running! Please do not wait until the last minute. Show your support to Alaskan motorsport organizers — our Rallymasters appreciate knowing how many to plan on!
The Road Rally in Paradise will be a return to a TSD (Time-Speed-Distance) Rally versus our winter GTA (Games-Touring-Adventure) Rallies. It will be a chance for Expert teams to bone-up on their calculating skills for that perfect arrival time at checkpoints. Novice teams will find ease at staying on course and be scored to the minute when arriving at checkpoints along the route.
The starting location for Road Rally in Paradise will be the Carl's Jr, 12319 Old Glenn Hwy, right in downtown Eagle River! With online registration for your team we can expedite the time needed that evening: we will send out the Generals (rules of the game), have all of your registration information (no forms to fill out), and with a signature on the Waiver — you'll be set to go out in search of checkpoints on the backroads of the Chugiak - Eagle River Chamber of Commerce boundaries!
Teams will sign waivers, have their vehicles teched and receive the Mileage Check. Please arrive on time, as we'll want to get you down the road with first car out at 630P. The Mileage Check will take you to the outskirts and we'll rally back toward Eagle River. You'll receive the Route Instructions for the Road Rally in Paradise adventure at the end of the Mileage Check!
So that you may plan your evening, come out early for a bite at Carl's and the rally should be wrapped-up with rallying and learning of the finishing scores by 9:30PM — and that includes time to enjoy the single scoop ice cream at the rally's end — you'll get a coupon for one at the last checkpoint!

Event requirements
REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
We encourage all of you planning to enter this event to register here at http://www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com. One member of your team will need to register the vehicle and their position on the team (Driver or Navigator) and the other will need to register their position on the team and personal information only. The entry fee for the Summer Road Rally Series is $15 per team member, with members of our sanctioning body, the Sports Car Club of America, receiving a $5.00 discount. Please pay online or bring a cash/check for payment at the event.
Due to the nature of the motorsport known as Road Rally, Rallymasters must have ample copies of the Route Instructions and Checkpoint Slips prepared in advance of the event; there are no copiers along the highway! This is why we need your registration here and we will keep online registration open until 11:59P on Tuesday, July 5th. Registration will also be open between 545-600P on Wednesday, July 6th at Carl's Jr, yet we can not stress enough the importance of registering online to make sure there is a copy of the routes for your team.

DRIVERS LICENSES
Drivers must present a valid driver’s license. If under 18-years-of-age, competitors (anyone in the vehicle) will need an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition. Contact the Region at 243-2122 or 745-2013 (9A-7P) to obtain a form prior to the event if parents are not going to be at the event to sign.
CLASSES and VEHICLE INSPECTION
The SCCA will recognize Expert and Novice Classes for this event.
Each team will be required to complete a Vehicle Inspection prior to the start of competition.
