About this event
Driving in Circles Road Rally
The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will be sanctioning the first event of the 2014 Summer Road Rally Series on Sunday, July 13th. The Driving in Circles Road Rally is also a part of the Chugiak-Eagle River Bear Paw Festival, of which there has been a road rally since 1986! Head over to www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com today or our Road Rally in Alaska Facebook page, and you'll find information on our upcoming events.
We are so very fortunate that three Rallymasters have stepped up to take on the responsibility of putting together challenging, clean (no busts) and creative Road Rallies for the upcoming Summer Series! Rallymasters want to know that rallyists are planning to attend and looking forward to competing on their rallies. We look forward to having you rally with us and encourage you to register online today!
Kevin Cose will be the Rallymaster for the Driving in Circles Road Rally. Usually partnered with Bill Demming for competing in Region events, the two took on the challenge of the annual Bear Paw Road Rally this summer. Demming served as the Road Rally Safety Steward for the event. You'll be traveling familiar roads in the Chugiak-Eagle River area and enjoying the scenic views along the way.
Given the generous volunteer hours needed to go into our events — from the pre-check workers time, Rallymaster re-check calcs/printing, and rally expenses—we need your registrations as soon as you know you'll be running! Please do not wait until the last minute — show your interest to our Rallymasters! We don't have the early dates in 2014 selected, yet when we do, please consider taking time to register for the full season today or as many as you are sure you'll be able to take in right now and you'll be set for the season.
The starting location for Driving in Circles Road Rally will be the Carr's store at 7731 East Northern Lights Boulevard in Anchorage. Look for us near the Starbuck's and Signature Deli, with 12:00P opening Registration. Teams will sign waivers, have their vehicles teched and receive the Mileage Check. Please arrive on time, as we'll travel from Anchorage to Eagle River on the Mileage Check, where you'll receive the Route Instructions for the Driving in Circles Road Rally adventure! So that you may plan the rest of your day, you should be wrapped-up with rallying and learning of the finishing scores by 5PM — and that includes time to enjoy the single scoop ice cream at the rally's end!
Don't have a dedicated rally partner? No worries—we are encouraging folks to arrive and form teams at the starting location! Register up so folks know you're looking for a rally partner.
Event requirements
REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
We encourage all of you planning to enter this event to register here at http://www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com. One of your team will need to register the vehicle and their position on the team (Driver or Navigator) and the other will need to register their position on the team and personal information only. The entry fee for the Summer Road Rally Series is $15 per team member, with members of our sanctioning body, the Sports Car Club of America, receiving a $5.00 discount. Please pay online or bring a check for payment at the event. Of course cash is also acceptable payment at the event.
Due to the nature of the motorsport known as Road Rally, Rallymasters must have ample copies of the Route Instructions and Checkpoint Slips prepared in advance of the event; there are no copiers along the highway! This is why we need your registration here and we will keep online registration open until 5:00P on Saturday, July 12th. Registration will also be open between 12:00-12:20P on Sunday, July 13th at the Signature Cafe at the East Northern Lights Carr's location.
You may also call Cheryl at 243-2122 to register for Driving in Circles Road Rally versus online registration.
DRIVERS LICENSES
Drivers must present a valid driver’s license. If under 18-years-of-age, competitors (anyone in the vehicle) will need an SCCA Minor Waiver signed by their parents (or legal guardians) and presented prior to competition. Contact the Region at 243-2122 or 745-2013 (9A-7P) to obtain a form prior to the event if parents are not going to be at the event to sign.
CLASSES and VEHICLE INSPECTION
The SCCA will recognize Expert and Novice Classes for this event.
Each team will be required to complete a Vehicle Inspection prior to the start of competition.
