PI Day RallyCross

Alaska State Fairgrounds

About this event

The Arctic Alaska Region, of the Sports Car Club of America, will be sanctioning the PI Day RallyCross at the Alaska State Fairgrounds, Palmer, Alaska.

The PI Day RallyCross is the start of our 2015 Winter RallyCross Season and the Region is looking foward to seeing you in the driver's seat. Competitors will get a minimum of four runs on the course. Given the format of the day, you should be ready for “lots of seat time”!

Please remember that all competitors must be SCCA Members, and you will find the option for an SCCA Weekend Membership ($10) on the Registration form. SCCA Weekend Members will have a $15 credit towards a full SCCA Membership with this Weekend Membership, which would benefit you in the upcoming year with reduced entry fees at our sanctioned SCCA events — RoadRally, RallyCross and Solo (aka Autocross), participation in Arctic Alaska Region activities, and you'll receive SportsCar, the National monthly publication of the SCCA.

Online registration, here at www.alaskascca.motorsportreg.com, will close at 11:59PM, Thursday, March 12th. You may choose to pay via credit card online or via check/cash at the event. Of course, you can register trackside on Saturday morning between 8:15-845AM too, yet RallyCross Steward Bastien encourages online registration to help with our preparation for this challenging event! Wondering "What the heck? Why so early on a Saturday morning?" Well, since it is PI Day and PI is 3.14 and the event day is March 14th, the starting time will follow PI and the first car goes on course at 9:36AM!

Lunch will be provided for this event, and rumor has it — Chili and Hot Dogs are going to be on the menu!

PI Day RallyCross Schedule — Saturday, March 14, 2015

7:30 AM - RallyCross Team Arrival
8:15 AM  -  8:45 AM - Onsite Registration Hours

All competitors will need to come by Registration upon arrival to check-in — both those who registered online and those who choose to register at the event. Note that Registration is only open for 30-minutes. You will then head to Tech for your vehicle inspection. It is best to arrive early so you'll have more time to walk the course!

Cars will be gridded departing tech, and we will have the first car on course immediately after the Driver's Meeting. The number of runs will be determined from the number of competitors, with a minimum of four runs. There will be a 30-minute lunch break (the RallyCross Team will be reviewing the course) and then resume with the RallyCross Drag portion of the afternoon.

Awards after Competition - Not later than 4:30PM

Event requirements

REGISTRATION and ENTRY FEES
Online registration for the SCCA Arctic Alaska Region's sanctioned events in the PI Day RallyCross must be made online prior to 11:59PM, Thursday, March 12th. After that, you will need to call the Region at 243-2122 to registration or arrive trackside during open registration 8:15AM-8:45AM. That said, please do not delay in registering; we need a minimum entry by March 8th for the event to go forward!

Entry fees are $45 for SCCA Members and $55 for those requiring an SCCA Weekend Membership. The Weekend Membership fee gives you an SCCA Weekend Membership, and it gives you a $15 discount towards a full SCCA membership, a copy of SportsCar (our national magazine), SCCA decals, reduced entry fees at Arctic Alaska Region events and more!

DRIVERS LICENSES and HELMETS

Competitors must present a valid driver’s license during Tech Inspection and sign the Event Waiver as they enter the event site.

Helmets: Competitors must have helmets, and they must meet minimum Snell SA-2000, K2000, or M-2000 ratings or newer. The Region will have limited sizes and quantities of “loaner helmets” at the event.

CLASSES, CAR PREPARATION AND MODIFICATIONS
The Region has established four classes for our Winter Championship Season: Stock-2W, Modified-2W, Stock-AWD and Modified-AWD. Tires allowed are all-season, summer, or snow tires with or without street studs. Use of “enhanced” tires” i.e. performance rally tires, tires with more studs than highway legal, extreme mud/snow tires with large paddles, lugs, etc., will NOT be allowed.

Each competitor will be required to present their vehicle ready for inspection to the Tech Inspection Team at 8:30AM; should Tech be ready and your arrival prior to that time — we'll begin tech sooner, as we need to get cars teched timely for an ontime start of the day! Vehicles shall have mufflers, working seatbelts, and NO leaking fluids, in addition to the other items on the Tech Sheet. Vehicles deemed too loud by the RallyCross Safety Steward, Event Chairman and the Tech Inspector will not be allowed to participate; please do Alaska's Motorsport Community the courtesy of having your vehicle muffled.

Vehicles with a high-center of gravity (lifted trucks) or vehicles emitting excessive noise will not be allowed to compete. This decision will be at the discretion of the Event Chairman and Tech Inspector.

A Tech Checklist, as well as the 2015 SCCA, Arctic Alaska Region Supplemental Rules for our events can be downloaded here. You may also download the National RallyCross rules from www.scca.com.
