This coming St. Patrick’s Day we are having a very special event, another one that you will not want to miss.
Join us on Saturday, March 17th, for a Day at the Races … and that would be the horse races at Santa Anita Park. We will begin the day with a run through the San Gabriel Mountains to the Santa Anita Park where we will park in a designed area monitored by an attendant. Then we will be treated to a guided tour of the entire facility, including the stables, paddocks, and even the living quarters of the Park personnel. A lunch buffet in the private Director’s Room will be served overlooking the entire park. One of the races will be dedicated to our club, and we will be invited to the winner’s circle to meet the winning jockey and horse.
To begin the day we will have a short run through the San Gabriel on a route on that has not been driven by the LA Region, at least not for the past several years. We will start in Glendora, proceed up the Glendora Mountain Road, back down and around the San Gabriel Reservoir, and finish on surface streets to reach the Santa Anita Park. The drive should be about 1¼ hours, and there will be no pit stop.
Parking will be in a designated area and monitored by an attendant at the Santa Anita Park. A buffet lunch will be served in the Director’s Room (Director's Room details linked here). A sample lunch menu can be found linked here.
We have established a limit of 85 members.
We will meet up in the parking lot at Vons in Glendora before 8:30 am. The driver’s meeting will be at 8:45 am for a departure at 9:00 am. As usual, dependent upon the number of Porsches, we might break into 2 or 3 groups.
Registration for this event is required, and the cost is $80 per person. Please indicate the number and names of your guests to provide us with an accurate head count for the Park.
Final information and detailed route instructions will be emailed to you two or three days prior to the run.
