Rolling Thunder 2017
Buttonwillow Raceway Park
May 27- 28 2017
Another great weekend at Buttonwillow raceway. We will be running the full course as usual for both the DE and Club Racers. Join us for two days of fun in the sun and enjoy this very open track.
This event will provide another opportunity to see the Club Racers in action!
Join Porsche Club of America’s Golden Gate Region at Buttonwillow Raceway Park on May 27-28 2017 for a combined Driver Education/Club Racing Rolling Thunder weekend. We welcome any safe driver, with any safe car. At Buttonwillow we’ll have everyone from first-timers, more experienced track-day fanatics and Club Racing competitors.
The feeling of moving fast as you drive at full throttle down the main straightaway. The thrill of executing a turn perfectly at speed. The focused processing of feedback from the steering wheel, the brakes, the motion of the body, the noise of the engine. The exhausted high you feel after focusing hard and concentrating on your driving for a full 25 minute session. The feeling of oneness with your Porsche. The amazing Freedom you feel. If you've never tracked your Porsche before, these are just a few of the thrills you'll get when you come to a track weekend with GGR.
PCA-GGR's events are focused on safety, fun and maximum track time. PCA nationally trained instructors are provided to help you be safe while honing your track driving skills. We are a non-profit (which keeps our entry fees low), but we operate one of the better track programs in the western U.S.
Ground School
GGR will be holding Ground school for all beginners and novices on Saturday May 13th from 11am to 2pm. Instructors are encouraged to attend and anyone else that would like to get a refresher.
Ground school will cover safety, preparation, at-track instruction format, introduction of the scheduled track configuration, as well as event protocol and schedule. At-track orientation will also be provided the evening preceding the event, but does not replace the ground school. Mandatory for beginners. All are welcome.
Ground school will be held at Walnut Creek Civic Park Social Hall, 1375 Civic Drive, Walnut Creek, CA.
At-track Orientation for those new to track driving will be held at the track on Friday evening for new students driving on Saturday.

PCA - HPDE Insurance Program
In June 2009, Porsche Club of America and Lockton Affinity announced the PCA - HPDE Insurance Program. This innovative program provides single-event physical damage coverage to PCA members who attend High-Performance Driver's Education events. Over the past ten years many auto insurers have changed their policies to exclude coverage for claims "occurring on a surface used for racing", "at a high-performance driving event", or "use of an auto at a racetrack". Your existing auto insurance policy may not cover damage to your car at the track.
Information on the PCA - HPDE Insurance Program can be found here:
http://pcahpdeins.locktonaffinity.com/Default.aspx (This information is provided as a convenience to our members and should not be construed as an endorsement).
Coverage from other companies may be available as well.

IMPORTANT STUFF
- The cancellation policy appears in teeny-weeny type at the bottom of this section!
- Receipt of Payment is Critical -- where priority for instruction, acceptance into an event, discounts, availability of volunteer jobs etc. is decided by date, it is the date of payment receipt that is used. Waitlisted students' priority will be decided by date of registration.
- You are considered a student unless you've completed two clean events with us; please select the student fee when registering.
Please contact the Registrar before registering if you have questions about student status: GGRRegistrar@gmail.com - You must present a completed tech form and valid drivers license during Tech/Check-In at the track. Download and use our event tech form which can be found on the Rules and Forms page on the Official GGR Website here: http://www.pca-ggr.org/rules_and_forms
